Thanks, seems like a pretty brazen quote from a guy that tends to exaggerate thing.
a beat reporter brought this up to Brock and he started laughing. I mean, I know he’s not going to just be like “yup, I’m out of here”, but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion he wants to leave.![]()
Is NY Islanders C Brock Nelson destined to sign with the Minnesota Wild?
As the NHL trade deadline approaches, speculation is swirling around New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson, with rumors linking him to the Minnesota Wild at teyesonisles.com
"During Tuesday night's ESPN broadcast, play-by-play man John Buccigross said the following: "Brock Nelson, picked by Bill Guerin (Wild GM who picked Nelson for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-off). Everyone thinks Nelson is going to sign with Minnesota, it's like the worse kept secret in hockey, that he'll be with the Wild next year."
He lives in Wayzata, MN which is a western suburb of the Twin Cities metro on Lake Minnetonka. That’s about a 6-7hr drive to Warroad his hometown depending on the time of year.a beat reporter brought this up to Brock and he started laughing. He has a big family, 4 kids. It would be a big move, and as other posters have mentioned he’s from much closer to Winnipeg than Minnesota - that’s where his family’s business is.
Would love to trade him but all signs point to him sticking around, probably on a deal that’s too long and for too much money.
Did not know that, thanks for the context! He lives in Wayzata, MN which is a western suburb of the Twin Cities metro on Lake Minnetonka. That’s about a 6-7hr drive to Warroad his hometime depending on the time of year.
No worries. I’m a Wild fan who really likes his game and think he would be a great addition for the team. I don’t see how they could make it work to fit him on the team this season however, even moving past what the cost would be and if the Isles were planning to move him to begin with.Did not know that, thanks for the context!
I agree. My galaxy brain theory is that the isles are going to move Dobson + for Petterson, and then have to trade Nelson to make the cap work for future seasons. That'll essentially mitigate whatever + was addedNo worries. I’m a Wild fan who really likes his game and think he would be a great addition for the team. Nelson is great and proven in the playoffs. Plays centre or wing. Pk too. He’s pretty much the islanders best forward.Would be an awesome fit on the Leafs (and pretty much any team).
What’s the cost. 1st + ?
This isn’t the Jets first rodeo though where they add a UFA at deadline. They did just this last year with Monohan and Toffoli. They did it before with Stastny and then Hayes. As a fan of the team I would not give up a 1st for a UFA anything anymore. With the season that the Jets are having and Hellebuyck could win both the Vezina AND the Hart this year, Chevy needs to man up and make an addition or two at the deadline to make a serious run at the cup. There chances to go all the way have never been any higher.

The cost will be at least a first and a top prospect.
Imo Lou Lam will look at all the offers and decide whether the best one is better than extending Nelson.

The Jets would probably balk at Stan and try and offer Fleury or Heinola instead.Knowing Lou he'll probably take Logan Stanley cause of his size and a conditional 12th round pick.
I doubt the Jets think they need anything after all they are running away with the regular season.Could the RHD be upgraded? Sure but I think its a smaller need then 2C and far more expensive then 3 pairing LHD upgrade. IMO a RHD upgrade isn't worth the it, we need that 2C upgraded bad. Names/Lowry at 2C is not good answers. Lambert (+) wouldn't be moved unless a big fish was coming back with term (IMO), aka I doubt he's moved but I suspect Chevy might be dangling him to see what people offer, if its a offer too big to say no to then ok.
