On a recent edition of insider trading Lebrun said that several teams would like to get into serious discussions with the NYI for Brock Nelson but nobody knows yet if Nelson will be available, the 4 teams he specifically mentioned were the Leafs, Jets Stars and Wild.

Lebrun also said he expects Nelson to go to July 1st.

If he's going to July 1st he should be traded.

The NYI are not near the top of the east, they are not fighting for a division title, they aren't even in a playoff spot.

Brock Nelson should be traded.

If he were to end up on Winnipeg, Toronto or Dallas I think that team would be the favorite to come out of their conference.

Maybe It's just me but to me it feels like a wide open year this year.

Especially in the east where Boston, Florida and Tampa don't seem as strong.

Same thing with the Canes and Rangers the east feels weak.

The west is different, The West has Vegas, Dallas, Edmonton and Winnipeg the west is going to be a blood bath.

As long as NYI is in the hunt Lou won’t trade him.

Also they have no one to replace Nelson next season at 2C if he gets traded or walks.

There is speculation they’ve offered him a three year extension.

This little run is the worst thing that could've happened to the Islanders. They need a re-tool but it won't occur unless they're bad enough to miss the playoffs by a distance.

Here we go again with Brock Nelson rumors:
-Minnesota, No your 2nd, mediocre prospect and cap dump are not enough. All your tradeable vets have too much term (aka not expiring).
-Toronto, no one wants Nick Robertson so stop offering him for anything short of another useless player that needs a chance of scenery

-My spectuation is Lou wants more of a hockey trade if he's moved and playoff teams aren't moving the pieces to make that happen. If its for futures; a 1st, decent prospect and expiring cap dump should be the projected offer.

Nelson to the Wild seems like a foregone conclusion to me. It makes the most sense out of all the teams.

Jets make more sense than Wild, who don’t have the requisite expiring contracts to make a deal happen. Not to mention they just paid a lot in futures to add Jiricek.

Rumor on the street is that he'd like to play in Minnesota(home state) to finish his career. Im hoping the Jets can acquire him as a rental and then he likely signs in Minnesota in the offseason. Not sure why he would want a 3 year deal from the Isles at his age. His next contract will likely be his last. Im sure he could squeeze a 4-5 year contract out of someone(likely Minnesota) and then ride off into the sunset.

Who’s word on the street?

Who’s word on the street?

"During Tuesday night's ESPN broadcast, play-by-play man John Buccigross said the following: "Brock Nelson, picked by Bill Guerin (Wild GM who picked Nelson for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-off). Everyone thinks Nelson is going to sign with Minnesota, it's like the worse kept secret in hockey, that he'll be with the Wild next year."

Nelson is the sort of guy that a Cup contender adds to put them over the top. That's the Jets, not the Bruins, or the Wild. Both of them have enough older players as is.
