Oh come on now, I would never wish injury on anyone (well OK, maybe a fat lip and a black eye for Marchand, lemme think on that one a bit).
I just thought we'd seen the last of him. Never say never I guess but I've lost all faith in him. Now that I've said that, watch him lead us to the finals.

our boy Benoit had an assist last game cut him some slack.
Cant score a f*cken goal but he's been hitting the bodies for us and thats what we need. his man/puck separation per 60 is what we need

It actually makes sense I think, the kid needs to play. My head says they did the right thing, but my heart says uh oh, B2B coming on the weekend so I guess we'll see Sammy play again. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us all and play great, we'll see,
Not really pay attention the time on ice they look more like the 3rd pair to me and he loses shifts to lily your top 4 doesn’t lose shifts to 3rd pair ever

We really have no choice but to wait and see. The staff have seen the beast up close and maybe in practice he is just a sieve. Maybe he isn’t but we don’t know, time will tell

Actually it is.. bottom pairing minutes. When you play the 5th or 6th most minutes of the D... that's bottom pairing minutes. He isn't getting more minutes than 4 D ahead of him... that's not top 4 minutes.
All it takes really, is to make statements claiming facts.. when they aren't.
What you are still trying to claim, is still false.

Well done; the D is still crap, though. and still, 17 minutes isn't your typical bottom pairing ice-time.
And the wider point seems to have been missed that depth of D on this team isn't that good.

Indeed... when you are winning games the way that we have, you balance out the minutes. In games where we haven't dominated teams, he gets less playing time, which is why his season average is 15 minutes... plus, he's legitimately pretty good, and has earned more playing time, earned PK time.
When your #8 D man to start the year, comes in plays 24 games for you, and averages 1.8 GA/60, and has the best GA/60 of any D man on the PK, that is in fact VERY GOOD depth. Plus he's been physical, he's had fights.... I mean if that's bad depth, you know where your #8 has league leading GA/60 and PK GA/60, while being top 50 in hits/60.... well, umm... The depth on this team is one of the best in the league.
If you want to make the statement that we could use an upgrade higher up in the lineup... yup, I'd fully agree with you.

they could still call Hildeby up after he plays on Friday. Might make sense for him to shake off the rust with another AHL game before he gets a shot on Sunday.

Sure, the D as it stands, though, is still half comprised of guys who would be best suited to the 5th, 6th, or 7th D spots. IMO, even McCabe is probably best suited outside of the top 4 (depends on the partner).
So with that and Brodie sort of waning as well as Liljegren trying to take a top 4 spot firmly, it makes Benoit ascending and I'll be careful here, to just outside of the top 4, even more stark. Particularly for a team considered to be one of the best.

Interesting thought. My guess would still be that it's Sammy who plays and that does maybe make sense, as much as many of us would like to see what the big white hope is all about.
