I wouldn't offer much for him due to injuries, but Gudbranson would be an OK fit for a few years.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

"Peter Holland is available"
That's like saying "Frank Corrado is available"

Just saying someone is "available" doesn't mean other teams WANT THEM

Holland wouldn't even be claimed on waivers.

Saw a leafs nation article implying that they would target Manson from ANA. Pretty sure Holland gets you a Manson game worn sweater and maybe an order of press box nachos.

Wild have surplus of good D. Folin's emergence has made us even deeper on backend. Some options:

Brodin - Signed longterm. Terrific skater, very reliable. Putting up points now under Boudreau.

Scandella - Solid middle pairing guy. Could have some hidden upside as Suter/Spurgeon/Dumba have grabbed all PP time.

Olofsson - Good D prospect who can't stay healthy. Would be NHLer now in different organization IMO.

If the ducks could somehow buyout or get Bieksa to waive, and then protect Lindholm,Fowler and Vatanen, i would love to snag Manson off of them (instead of Manson getting picked by Las vegas for nothing)

Martin for Gudbranson :sarcasm:

Done. We need more mentorship and grit in our lineup. I'm sure Dorsett would send Benning a text how happy he is to have another mindless numb-nuts who is becoming irrelevant in this game every year, fighting alongside him.

On top of that, save us from the eventual long term, high caphit extension Benning will give Gudbranson.

I think Borodin would be a good fit, depending on the price???

Yeah probably would considering Holland doesn't have any Value.

Holland is negative value at this point.

Haha, dial back the hyperbole bud.

He's a bottom-6 player with a cap hit of 1.3 mil. While he doesn't really have any value, it's ridiculous to say he has negative value.

Brodin has a lot more shine on him than he deserves. If he is brought in as a #2, I think most Leafs fans will be disappointed with what they bought and how much they paid for it.

This is really two separate things. The Leafs want a shutdown D and they want to trade Holland. They are not looking to trade Holland for a shutdown D necessarily.

I personally would not be expecting a top 2, but a really good 3 to amazing 4 is what I think we need, depending on price.. I am really happy with Rielly and zeitsev pairing. Gardiner is top 4 but we need another player who is as good or better then him and I see Gardiner as a good 3 or really good 4

I'd be OK paying the price for a very good #4 but I wouldn't pay for a #2 or #3, which I think Minnesota will be looking to get payment for

Besides, his underlying numbers are horribad so I'm not sure our analytics team would approve

If it is a Holland + Hunwick for Stoner + Manson swap that changes the equation of a potential trade.

So we're saying Stoner (solid but overpaid 6D) and Manson who is a top 4 RHD on a super sweetheart contract is only worth waiver wire fodder and a cap dump for 1.5M a year savings? I'm thinking no. Ducks have zero need for Hunwick or any D in return. As a LD he certainly doesn't play over Theodore.

So we get two cam dumps in players we have zero need for, while trading Manson and Stoner and not even saving that much in cap space. Why would we even entertain that idea?

Try to think about that other team next time.

Any interest in Paul Martin? He's still a servicable #4 who has a lot of experience playing with Rielly offensive types (Burns, Letang, although both are much better than Rielly). Martin apparently prefers to play on the right.

Paul Martin would be an off-season move that makes sense but isn't the first or even 2nd choice of who the Leafs would go for.

Sharks are built to win now so I don't see them dealing Martin during this season.

In the off-season the Sharks are slated to lose Martin in the expansion draft. Martin would be more valuable then other players the Leafs are slated to protect. However, there's a few other Dman who are slated to be lost in the expansion draft who the Leafs would try for before Paul Martin.

I saw that article too. Not once did it say Holland would be included in a potential deal.

Look at what proper top 4 dmen fetch these days. Getting one will probably cost the Leafs JVR+ or Kadri+ and another roster dman going back. To all the people throwing out gamble prospects like Kapenen, that'd be an insult to the team you're offering that to. No team wants to get rid of a top 4 dman on the chance that they might get a top 6 player out of it, they want some guarantee.
