The fact that Sportsnet continues to give this clown screentime is proof that they have contempt for the Leafs and their fans. The "unbiased" commentary we suffer through is further proof. Home broadcasts for opposing teams are more enthusiastic for our team than our own. Compare the ESPN call of Matthews 60th to Sportsnet. It's disgraceful

Relax bro, they are plants.

Keefe putting that 4th line out there and Brodie out on the ice after the 5-3 goal was scored was the coaching equivalent of a Dermott spin-o-rama in OT.
I truly believe he did it to see what that group can do, there's no shot when the points matter or in playoffs he does that again, not even Keefe is that stupid to think the 4th line can ice the end of the game.

Im at a loss for words

This simply can't be real? I give up.

LOL what? Is this for real? LMAO

They are literally trolling the Leafs fans

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL f***
Honestly guys even though he doesn't deserve it I think it was a classy leadership move from Matthews to show he has his back still. Brodie is a good guy who has been fairly reliable most of his time here, sometimes as a leader you try and pick someone up when they're down, as Brodie has had a very rough year both on and off the ice.

Also thought Brodie had a fairly strong first two periods, he mainly unraveled in the third with the rest of the team.

Why do you need to see what they can do if they won’t get a shot later to do it?
Seemed like a pretty dumb move at the time and that thought turned out to be correct.

I'll also add that while that line likely isn't going to be together in the playoffs, those players are bound to be in situations where they get matched or stuck out against that top line competition. So some extended experience now could be helpful for those specific situations come playoff time.

Keefe always puts us in defense mode when we have a multi goal lead going into the 3rd. It almost never works. We should go out there and play like we're down a goal, even if we have a 4 goal lead. Trying to score is the best part of our game. Pretty sure that we have scored the most goals in the league since the all star game.

I actually love the fact that Keefe played the kid line against their top line in the 3rd period on purpose. See what they can do and get experience. Better now than when it matters. They will be better for it

so Matthews at 62 goals

8 goals in 8 games is possible for a 70 goal season. But that probably means no time off to rest up and get ready for playoffs.

if only he could go next 2 games with 4 goals each that will reduce the pressure

Yep

70 or not you just want to see him on a bit of a heater come playoff time

Because I'm not willing to kiss his ass like A LOT of people here are.

He was unplayable for MONTHS.

He's been so bad that he doesn't nor deserve to be cut ANY slack.

He himself has single handily pissed away AT LEAST 12 points.
That was three months ago. What his record since then ?

It would be really hard to break up the Matthews line right now.

I don't know what Keefe does. He is difficult to read.

I like Marner with Tavares and McMann, but Willy doesn't really deserve 3rd line mins.

Holmberg, Willy and ???

I like the idea of Nylander ecploiting 3rd lines, but he has had such a good season that it seems crazy to cut his ice time.

We know Keefe will run Matthews and Marner over 20 mins, so that wpuld leave very little for Willy's line if they play the 4th 8-10
4th line gets 8 minutes.
PK + PP = 10 minutes. Marner, Nylander & Matthews take 6 min. each.
Remaining 42 split between 3 lines = 14 minutes per line
6 + 14 minutes = 20 minutes each subject to adjustments for which line(s) are playing better.

It is doable I guess with who our opponents are. TB x2, MTL, PIT, NJD x2, DET, and Florida.
