Woll 4-2-0 2.00GAA .920sv%
Stolarz 7-3-2 2.18GAA .927sv%

Obviously they do not have the best single goalie, but as a duo they have taken over the mantel from the Bruins it seems for stellar goaltending pairs

I mean, the numbers do look like that. Yes. But you need more than a quarter of a season to say "best ____ in the league."

How about "best goaltending duo in the league so far. "

Regardless of if its the best or not, this duo is lightyears better than anything we've had in the recent past. I'm genuinely impressed by how good Stolarz is.

Campbell, Mrazek, Murray, Samsonov and even Andersen for his playoff choke jobs were all garbage.

Exactly. If there's anything Leaf fans should know by now it's that you don't decide who's "best" anything in November.
This is almost all Berube. Any goalie would generally do well under this system.
So trade them both while their value is high, and roll with Murray and Hildebeast because "any goalie would generally do well"?

Yeah, I really don't think so.

If they can keep this play up it would be nice to enter the post-season for once without a significant disadvantage vs. their opponent between the pipes.

Anyone remember what it was like when the Leafs' goaltending duo was Reimer/Bernier? Before a game you'd be wondering "which guy is more likely to blow it for this game?" and "I wonder if the starter will get pulled again."

Or how about the dismal ride on the goalie carousel since Freddy Andersen left? Campbell, Mrazek, Kallgren, Murray, Samsonov were all failures in just 2 short years. It's hard to believe how many options they tried that all bombed here.

Well in all fairness Campbell played better here for a longer stretch than Woll or Stolarz

We've currently gotten the 11th best goaltending impacts this year, which is pretty good, though not as good as it may look by SV%.
Getting back to 2020-2023 defensive levels has really helped. I have liked how big and calm Stolarz has looked though, and Woll is coming off one of his best games.
The real test is keeping it up through the season and playoffs, so hopefully they are able to. Would be a big boost.

Since I've been a fan, the Leafs have had exactly x3 top tier goalies, and all of them played before the salary cap era. The Cat, the Dog and the Bird. Since then it's been a whole lot of...ehhhhh.

Don't even get me started on defense pairs.

Heady times, these are.

I wish people would stop talking about how good we are at anything until we prove it in the playoffs. Talk is cheap.

Seems you've made a mistake, then. You've come to a hockey discussion board, and entered the Maple Leafs forum specifically.

Campbell is a very good goalie, but it's a shame that whatever mental illness/depression he struggles with, takes him off his game. Very talented, but I don't think he will ever be back, or any good, due to his struggles.

I'm not only happy with our duo, but the duo with the Marlies has been fantastic too.

AA is at 0.926 and Hildeby is at 0.910, though I think Hildeby's stats will climb as the season goes.

It's a long season, plus playoffs, and a lot to prove.. but they've gotten off to a good start.

Yup Campbell had plenty of talent, his problem was ALL between the ears. It's a shame when you see the guy that backstopped Team USA to a WJC gold medal as a 17 year old who hadn't been drafted yet, stepping in to play the gold medal game taking over from Mike Lee who shit the bed. It really felt like he was destined for great things after that.
