Matthews needs a foot up the ass every once in a while. It's bizarre; MOST players with his abilities and body type don't disappear for stretches.

Personally, I think his entire mindset towards playing every year has changed since he was taken out by that asshole Trouba... Before that he was a physical machine, now he seems to be more tenative.

I think he's become kinda lazy, and realizes stretches of mediocre hockey can be papered over by one strike offense and big party wins.

Every year, there are elements you want to see him incorporate into his game, taking this from Draisaitl, that from Mackinnon. Use it as a platform to be a guy to lead a championship. Always kind of reverts to the same.
