Post-Game Talk: Leafs Ground Jets 5-3

I feel like he needs to play with Mikey or sit. Together their speed intimidates on quick counter attacks. I think they looked good with Hyman. On his own. Yikes

Agreed

His speed is absolutely NHL worthy, I wish he could give it to Joe, lol. But the majority of his game is absence. He doesn't do anything.

Montreal plays the heaviest/roughest game out of all Canadian teams. And that's who is most likely our 1st rd matchup will be against.

Getting Foligno for that series was massive. Gonna be a bloodbath.

3 consecutive games against the Habs in May also. Healthy dose of Leafs/Habs madness

Sandin & Brooks stick next game. Sandin has been surprisingly terrific, he keeps playing like he is & when Bogo is healthy Sandman might even challenge for Dermott's spot; he should be on the top PP unit.

Holl looks like he needs a couple of games off to refresh and recharge. He's already mentioned he's playing through some "bumps & bruises" and has been for awhile now.

Then why is he pinching so much? He should just play a simple defensive game...he's got it over his head that he thinks he's better than he is.

Nice to see the big mean leafs beat up and injure the soft Jets, with the soft Jets too scared to even fight us.

With Simmonds and Foligno in the line-up, I don't think the Jets want any piece of the Leafs...there was a short segment where Foligno hits a Jets' player hard on the boards, then Dubois comes to deliver a check to Foligno, but Foligno just stood him up and pushed him back...lol...that was great to see.

To me Brooks has seemed more engaged than Engvall and it's not even close.

I don't know much about the gap between the 2, but Brooks fit a lot better. He just didnt feel like he had the green light to shoot the puck and I hope he works on that confidence more. He was in prime shooting areas and made plays to get himself open and set up linemates but decided to pass the puck instead of shooting. If he cleans that up he might be a pleasant surprise.

Look I’m glad we have Foligno and the boys sure seem to like him - but not seeing the evidence of great play tonight. He was fine.

Nice games from Simmonds, Brooks, Sandin, Dermott and Tavares.

Did not like 44, 3 or 47 tonight.
What? Foligno did his job perfectly.

"are you f*****g kidding me! I don't give a f***!"

It doesn't have to be pretty.

How many points before we clinch a playoff spot or clinch 1st.

I think the Sens are mathematically out because Edmonton already would still have more wins.

They didn't get Nash so he can sit in the pressbox. He's a far and beyond upgrade over Engvall, not enough of an offensive upgrade over Kerfoot.

It's almost like people forget what Nash has done to us in Boston and Columbus lol

He is a MASSIVVVVEEEEE upgrade for the playoffs. I personally can't wait.

Campbell was steady, the D were more to blame than himself tonight.

Cements our starter position.

Foligno with good grit, surprising speed, might be able to convince him to stay who knows.

Simmonds, you beautiful beautiful man you, THIS Simmonds is who we need come post season.

Brooks looks great in the small sample size.

Sandin is a beast, will be a beast, we are doing cost control with him in hopes of a cheap nice bridge contract to go with the big expensive boys.

Rielly needs a big head shake.

Tavares is returning to what we know Tavares is.

Fun game. Good win.
Go Leafs Go
Lets do it again Saturday.

Yeah no... like his game but his heart is in Columbus and that’s ok :)

That should have been a 5-1 , 5-0 game. horrid minor league mistakes by our defenders. Happy for the win but not impressed that we have no learned a damn thing this year about how to play without the puck.

I guess our plan is to jump out early and hope and pray we an hang on for a win.

Happy with the game, nice to see us tighten up defensively and close one out. Not a perfect game by any means - thought Holl and Muzzy were shaky at times, we had issues with turnovers, but otherwise, decent win. Happy with the Dermott-Sandin pairing.

I have to correct you if nobody has done so yet, it's not the 31st overall pick

To me it all depends on our goaltending in the playoffs. If it holds up, then trading for Foligno is fine. If not, then it's terrible.

Huge win last night, especially for those of us who desperately want to play MTL in the 1st round. Let's do it again tomorrow night boys.
