Overdrive was talking about how the Young Leafs love getting their individual points. Matthews especially has to start playing like he understands floating around and being on the ice for a goal against can’t just be made up for with two snipes when he wants to turn it on.

We had one of our defenseman basically at the blue line on that goal but yes Matthews was the problem

The issue here is not coaching it is soft low energy play. F the stick checks in the dzone. Take the f***ing body.

Engaged nylander was rotm twice, world mvp, and has demonstrated it many times throughout 3 seasons.

But he’s garbage so far tonight.

Engaged Nylander is on the same offensive level as Marner. Creating and scoring goals. Carrying the puck, gaining the zone and keeping the puck from the defenders using his edges and skating ability.

We haven't yet seen that Nylander thus far this year.

The only good thing about the Sportsnet intermissions are when the panel all gang up on Elliot Friedman for not knowing shit about hockey.

Nylander and Mathews have to lose the yellow streak
On the back of their jerseys. Man they are so soft neither one will
Take a hit to make a play or give a hit to separate the man from the puck. Expect a lot more from these guys.

I’ll give them some doubt but i hope they can elevate their game in the playoffs.

Flyers can't make the playoffs next year and are literally playing for nothing. Before anybody says their young players are playing for jobs, the leafs have just as many young guys doing the same thing.

There's just no excuse.

I know the leafs don't have much to play for right now, but Tampa had already secured 1st overall when we last played them, and I've never seen this leafs team try as hard as Lightening players did that game.

They just don't care.

And they'd be SO GOD DAMN GOOD if they did.
The Flyers are not eliminated yet. Just sayin'.

To all of the optimists.

The way this team has played since December and especially the 2nd tonight. Please explain and convince me why you feel they have ANY chance in hell of beating Boston.

I will wait.

That's what we've done all year long. Why does this still surprise people.

It's nice to hear the talking heads in the 2nd int rip on the stick checks and lack of hitting

It’s not a surprise. But it’s just annoying how unprepared for the playoffs his group of characters seems to be. Like our 40 year old never won anything mentor just stands around.

And by the way - I am 99% sure that Babcock's system has our wingers collapsing in our own zone.

Notice how many goals against originate from shots at the point.

Hot Take:

**** this trying to play defensively ****. Go all offense and outscore your problems like they did at the beginning of the year. A 7-5 win is still a win

Sure and you think the Bruins are going to play shinny in the playoffs. Good luck.

This is a big post season for him. If he is sub par again, Dubas should try to get a better starter.
People can keep blaming the defence though.
If you watch any Leafs games it’s pretty clear that team defence is the main problem with this team, not Andersen. I think Dubas should get a better team in front of him. Freddy has bailed out this team all season and now that he’s off the defence can’t help him out. Look at the coverage on those goals and the number of lost battles in their zone. It shows us either the coaching needs changing or a major trade of a few players (Nylander, Kadri?).

He is a minus player...

Loool off topic but anyone else hear Greg Millen say Ron Francis built the flyers and that Carter Hart was a good defensive goalie

Idk why were trying to defend, we are a high octane team, cant try to defend when you dont have the horses for it.

Have you seen him in the defensive zone all night? Stick checks, light fly bys. Defends like he’s in a basketball game and scared to foul out.
