TO CAL: JVR + Kadri + Gardiner + Hunwick

TO TOR: Bennett + Hamilton + Wideman + AHL contract

Calgary adds size and scoring upfront while still receiving a good puckmoving defender in Gardiner. JVR would look great with Monahan/Gaudreau or form an excellent 2nd line with Kadri and give Calgary 2 dynamic scoring lines.

Leafs give up lots of offence to add to the blueline. Hamilton would look good beside Rielly whereas Bennett would look good centering Marner. Wideman is 100% cap dump to even out the money in the trade. He could prove useful though.

Coming from a leafs fan I see this as terribly one sided for the leafs. Bennett is more valuable then kadri, Hamilton is more valuable then Gard's and same with Wideman and Hunwick, then you add an AHL player from the flames?

Sorry, but this is a terrible proposal.

wideman isnt more valuable than hunwick given his declining play, reputation, and salary.

also you forgot about JVR.

agree this is a bad deal though. Calgary isnt moving Bennett

Could be worse value-wise, but I'm not a fan. My main issue with it is that it makes the Flames older when they're just on the verge of (hopefully) exiting their rebuild, and JVR is only signed for another season after this one, which isn't really long-term value. Also not the biggest JVR fan in general.

Yeah I totally forgot JVR didn't I, my bad. Either way though I just don't see this as deal Calgary makes. As a leafs fan I think we take it and run away laughing.

I'd pass. Not giving up Bennett, and the Flames can't afford to keep their forward core along with JVR and Kadri.

As a Flames fan I'd say this is god awful for the Flames, No interest in JVR, I'd rather develop Bennett then trade him in a package for Kadri.

The Leafs would have to add.

Calgary gives young talent for expendable parts in Toronto.

Counter offer,
Marner + Reilly + Martin + AHL contract

For:
Backlund + Frolik + Brouwer.

Done right?

Toronto fans keep thinking they get incredibly valuable assets such as Bennett without giving up one of
(Rielly, marner, Matthews or Nylander)

FWIW as a non-Leafs fan I absolutely agree.

Lol why dont you just trade the Calgary Flames for The Tornoto Maple Leafs while your at it. (Of course that would be a rip off for the leafs though) ;)

I get that Flames fans see Bennett and say no deal but what does this offer Toronto? What need is there for Bennett behind Nylander and Marner? As for Hamilton? Rather Gardiner, Leafs are playing up tempo and Jake looks great this season. Hamilton is a good fit in Toronto.

Not sure why the Flames need JVR when the have Tkachuk coming up.

Leafs don't need to get slower on the back end and smaller up front.

considering they are already giving up JVR and Kadri pretty much for Bennett, they arent adding any more.

this trade does nothing for either side really

3 of the assets you mentioned are more valuable than bennett. Matthews is an absolute non starter for anyone not named mcdavid. kid is 2nd in both goals and points..as a rookie..yeah.
too soon to judge marner yet, but thats probably a toss up.

And yes, Nylander with 20pts in 27 games has more value than Bennett with 39 in 84

I could potentially see something built around Hamilton & (an extended) JVR if the Flames can somehow acquire a defensively sound top 4 defenseman in another deal. But Bennett is not going anywhere.

As a Leaf watcher. The trade might be fair "short term" for both teams. But the potential of Bennett is way to much for the the Flames to give up.

Matthews and Bennett (if they live up to their potential) would be a great 1-2 wouldn't it.

I pass as a Leafs fan. Yeah Bennett is the best piece in this deal, and obviously you want one of the 4, but Hamilton's ****, and Wideman is worse. It's trading 2 top 6 players, and a top 4 D for a great young top 6 forward, an overpaid top 6, and the worst contract in the deal..

No reason for the Leafs to do this.
