Gio is not a serious NHL player anymore. Don’t want to beat up on a 40 year old too much but you’d have to think a Lagesson might be able to chip in a little more than an under powered guy who is slowing down thinking the game, skating and playing the puck.

Gio is what, literally our 9th best d man? The entire D group (minus Rielly) are all miscasts, everyone needs to be pushed down one spot at least. It’s hard to watch.

Brodie is borderline 6 right now, and he's playing the shutdown role. He isn't that guy anymore, it's been a full year now. Gio is mostly cooked and Lil hasn't emerged as a serious alternative in a shutdown role. Tre needs two D men yesterday, Dubas left a declining mess back there.

In order for this blueline to be cup caliber I think you almost need one guy in front of Rielly and one guy behind him, and then a 3 pack of McCabe, Liljegren, Benoit.

The guy ahead of Rielly would be a total luxury and pipe dream. But more likely 2x Muzzin’s.

The coach said himself Knies has hit a wall, so he puts him with the struggling line. Instead, he should sit him by his own logic and give Robertson some reps. Keefe is a clown.

He is so afraid of Robertson being bad defensively, when in reality he can't be worse than what we're seeing from Knies in the D zone

Robertson was one of our better forwards vs Detroit and his reward is being scratched for two straight. Amazing.

Go to 5:25 left in the period and you’ll see an example of why Marner has to change or not be re-signed at all.

He makes a crappy pass attempt to the point, whines with a stick slap on the boards instead of putting his head down and trying to help Gio who is now having to deal with pressure. His linemates (29 and 34) go to help while Marner is the last guy out of the Calgary zone.

He should be screamed at on the bench and sit for the rest of the period

People called me crazy for saying Marner for Doughty with 4mil retaned a couple years back when the Kings were struggling

I watched the Boston/Colorado game, and turning from that game to this game is the equivalent of pulling a groin muscle. The Leafs may end up wining this game simply because Calgary is Calgary, but I think it's time for Treliving to swallow his pride and replace his coach.
