This is a real problem with betting companies pushing hard into the NHL market. If bettors feel the fix is in, they have a problem.

This, in conjunction with a league trying to grow and become a larger global brand.

Reputation is everything. NHL has never had a reputation for providing a clean, consistent game that is guided by a rulebook.

RE the PP, the finger has to be pointed at the players right now. Next to no on-ice adjustments, no players taking charge, passive decision-making, etc.

With that said, one coaching decision I do not get is why Dermott has not been given a chance at PP2. He's QB'd at every level outside of the NHL. Muzzin is way too sluggish and doesn't move the puck fast enough. Dermott is arguably one of the team's best defenders at straddling the line with his lateral movement and spreads the ice with quick one-touch passes.

He hasn't necessarily earned it with his offensive game 5 on 5, but they're completely neutering his offensive potential if all he gets is D-zone starts and zero opportunity on the PP 4 years into his career. Nothing else is working and there's a small experimental window before Sandin is healthy to see what they have.

It's really hard to justify having him in the lineup. Its painful watching him skate.

His minutes (along with others I'm sure) probably decrease come playoffs. He may even see the Press Box once in awhile too.

If it is valid based on the depth of the team, and he wants a shot at the Cup, he should understand the reality of the sport and accept this possibility.
