Speculation: Leafs dressing room filled with illness

Such things like Complacency, Arrogance & Financial Greed etc runs rampant throughout this group, and are locker-room cancers that must be cut out, for health to return.

They're not simply fleeting illnesses that pass with time, and a bowl of warm chicken noodle soup and vitamin C can fix.

This team illness its rotten to the core.

Boo hoo

As much as I don't buy any of this - the theory falls apart pretty quickly as an excuse for last night unless there were players leaving the bench last night -I honestly hope it's true.

Anything's better than believing their performance last night was just them being terrible and not wanting it.

Of course, if there was an illness running through the locker room but no one missed the game last night nor needed to visits to the toilet, then it's likely passed and they should all be 100% by Friday right?

So then they'll just roll into Florida, play like they did to start the series, win, come back home and finish the cats off in game 7 right? Otherwise ...

Are we at the point in 2025 where being a huge p***y is a diagnosable acute illness?

They weren't sick in Game 5 against Ottawa. They weren't sick against Montreal, or Columbus, or every !@#$ing Game 7 against Boston. They looked exactly the same last night as they did in Game 4 this series and all the other dogshit efforts they've put in over the years.

If somebody were to pass out on the ice I might care, but the disease on the team is between their ears and repeats in critical playoff games every year.

"I'm sorry Mr. Matthews, you have a bad case of the sucks. So bad as to be the worst case I've ever seen. It appears to be chronic and flares up every year in early May"

It’s not like Matthews had any issues bailing on the Leafs down 3-1 in the Boston series when he was non specific sick and injured.

And when he came back in Game 7 it’s not like he looked any different than any other Game 7. Guess he set up Willie for a goal. But point stands. He looks like his usual terrible self.

I can't wait for this to be confirmed, used as the excuse like tavares' injury in montreal, then we re-sign marner for overpayments, also retain tavares, and do it all again next year with the same result.

Just end it. Let's lose swiftly again and embarrassingly, fire shanny into the sun, reset, sell assets to get some picks since we have none of our own, see you in another 7 or so years.

That's quite the flu, lasted over an entire decade and only comes around playoff time.

Amazing The Panthers haven't caught this flu being in such close proximity to the leafs for 5 games.

Even if this is true I didn’t see them coughing all over the Panthers and there’s no excuse for that

There is a limited number of opportunities to excuse failure. They've run out. If they truly have the flu in the room, that is unfortunate... add it to the long list of reasons as to why they aren't winners.
Mic drop.

It’s mid May. There’s no flu (other than, as others have said, the blue and white one). Certainly a bug sometimes goes through the locker room at the end of the regular season or beginning of the playoffs, but that’s late-March or early-April. This is mid-May. There is no “flu”.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but there is mostly certainly some sort of flu/virus/Covid stuff going around at the moment. I'm not suggesting that's an excuse for this team in the least, just correcting your assertion.
