probably one the best first 40 min the leafs have played in a decade.
Kampf is just awesome, there is no player in the league he cant shutdown . its unreal.

This team is strong but it means little until the playoffs. This can't be overstated. It's a team generates some hope, but it's always with a "well, how will the playoffs go?" As with other years, nothing should be left to chance.
Every win or loss is always a reaction from this base, a base hungry for a Cup. This is NOT the same T.B team we would be dealing with for a series, it also shouldn't be the same Leafs team IMO.
it's weird, but as much as I believe they seemed to have figured it out, the more I believe they need the right fits to put them over the top. The difference in revenue for the team with a deep playoff success to a Cup hopefully, is many millions of dollars (much more in the future if they win). A couple of key players can be the difference. To me, this team is probably a couple of pieces in and out to be that legit Cup contender, in the toughest division in the game with no easy marks.
No one should look at any one win or loss as the deciding factor, but understand that none of these teams will be easier to play against in the playoffs.

To the Leaf organization, especially the players and most everyone in here ….
I’ve been fortunate to be a Leaf fan for over 60 years now, few of you know what I mean indeed .
Ups downs and most of all just being a fan …
Sometimes though my “ downs of being a Leaf fan “ get to me and I cross the line in my fair judgement of players and teams and games .
I pride myself in at least calling out situations and players and coaching and management decisions down the middle and honest , without prejudice…
But sometimes and tonight I crossed the line and let my emotions and just burnt out sometimes as a fan and this recent pattern of “chocking “ gets to all of us especially me !
I still feel exactly the way I’ve been screaming about the net negative value of , Engvall and Kerfoot and jarncrok ? Sp ? And Holl and before Malgin .
But tonight I made errors in my judgment and called out the team for falling into a “defensive shell “ and playing on their heels …
I was wrong , they played real good tonight , that’s a great team out there against us , Champions , warriors and they are not as dominant anymore, but extremely and rightfully prideful and arrogant.
So they obviously were going to come at us as they did , I didn’t give them any credit and more importantly I didn’t give us any credit for sticking with it and trusting our talent to take advantage.
We did a great job at defending and have for a while …
So in summary
I really think we need a top 6 LWer
And
Hopefully a tough good d man
And one more “ Perry “ like player , younger hopefully .

Cooper's excuse was that his team was here for 3 days and probably partied it up.
What you say we need isn't too far from what I envision. I'd throw out names to target but it doesn't really matter since it's impossible to know if they are available and/or the asking price (it's why calling for UFA's is so much easier).
I will say that every single player they pursue MUST be a Gamer. Murray is a Gamer, Gio is a Gamer, Benn is a Gamer, Dubas has found pedigree. I don't care their position as long as it follows this logic: "guy who won't elevate their game when the chips are down and the sludgefest begins"= out, "guy who will go through a wall to win"= in. Keep your stats, they need Will and Killer Instinct as such broadly defined descriptives go.
Many long suffering Leaf fans have reason for optimism, Keefe has them playing both sides of the puck, Matthews in particular is possessed at times, both ends of the ice with purpose. Bunting has been invigorated since he seemed to remember "oh yeah, I am best in the paint".
Sorry though, I can't be convinced. I can be optimistic and hopeful, but I prefer empirical evidence to Faith. Depth upgrades would allow me to be far more confident come playoffs,

Our goaltending has been outstanding. Our team defense has been outstanding. A 2nd line LW and some more support scoring (A 3C with Kamph dropping to 4C and play lines 3/4 equally depending on the game situation) would be my priorities. It will be interesting to see how this team looks after the TDL. We have the assets to provide improvements.

**Early days, but I'd be very hesitant to move away from Timmins. RFA next year, quietly up to 17 min/G, 6 points (and some nice ones) in 7 games. Decent defense, even given tonight's gaff. A steal of a trade for the Leafs.
