It seems like a pretty average start for both teams to me. New Jersey hasn't done anything special.

Yeah no shit we're up there with most penalties. It's a day that ends with Y, it's the NHL in the 21st century. Doesn't matter what playstyle the Leafs employ, how soft they are, how tough they are, how fast, how slow. It doesn't matter, the refs will always look to call more penalties on us and fewer on our opponents to prove they're "unbiased."

I don't know if we have more slow starts than other teams, but I also don't think it is the coach's job to motivate people to play.

Can't afford good depth, a good D and good goalies along with the core 4. You've gotta sacrifice somewhere.
