...and with the period, the Leafs fall to having the 32nd best 5v5 save% in the league.....with top 5 5v5 defensive numbers.

Edit, this calendar year.

Vancouver getting chances that period actually opened up the game for us. Our chances in the 2nd period were much better quality than the chances in the 1st.

Funny how that works. Dominate slightly less and it works to your advantage.

This is why I'm not worried about offence against Florida/Tampa. Leafs are good at scoring when the game is going back and forth. Defence/goaltending becomes the issue against the good teams.

These weak teams collapse the slot and clog everything up, because Leafs keep them out of our zone and don't give them a choice, so our looks are worse, and players are often shooting flat-footed.

Our goalies are cold but we're still winning at a high percentage. No big deal. Best case scenario actually. We needed Campbell to come back down to earth in order to afford him.

Defensively I’m sure the team will tighten up. Surely some personnel will be added to bolster this group.

Goaltending is the big worry. These are the easy games. Good thing we didn’t rush to sign Campbell
I don't even think they've been that bad defensively, at all. Just not getting even average goaltending. Goals 2 and 3 tonight were saves Mrazek should make. A lot of nights of late, Campbell is giving up stinkers too. The offense has covered up the stink. That's not going to work come playoff time.

every other team in the league has gradually become more violent and we still just laugh as we are being hacked slashed and pushed around.

those smiles have to be my biggest irritant about this team

We need him in the playoffs and if he performs price goes back up and he probably walks and we are left with 35.

Petersson looks like absolute dogshit. What's up with that? What happened to him?
I'm sure having Quinn Hughes throwing 80ft passes would help him but he's being asked to be the #1C and he's still kinda skinny and weak for that role, especially defensively and on draws

I consider this leaf team a top 5 team, .I'm paying love attention to Schenn, he's doing alright.. would be a good low risk cheap signing.

Can't routinely get that level of goaltending we've seen since Christmas, combined with solid (but less than great) defensive play, and be a top 5 team.

We're a top 5 offensive team. I genuinely we believe that. I don't thinknwe fit the bill as an all around, elite team.

Fully agree with that. It’s harder to score in the playoffs, but if your goalie is letting in softies it’ll drown you. In my eyes we could add a D to push Holl down to the third pair and I’d be comfortably riding that into the playoffs. But if the goaltending isn’t figured out by then we are in for another quick exit.

Shots against/60: 5th fewest in the league
Expected Goals against: 4th fewest in the league
High Danger Chances Against: 2nd fewest in the league

Team save%: 32nd in the league....worse than Montreal.....worse than the Devils...worse than everyone...with top 5 friggin D numbers!!

Need to get the 2nd line going... Might come out in the 3rd period with...
