I'd offer Hyman 5M a year to stay with his home town team. Take it or leave it. Maybe he can get more somewhere else, or he can stay home. 5x5. Basically Freddy's annual cap hit. Then you go with a tandem in goal. Campbell + 700K-1M 1B goalie.

I can't see Hyman commanding a lot of money.

Teams are cap strapped and fighting to find money. Most players are starting to realize teams will ice rookies on contracts before signing pros on extensive, expensive deals.

Seattle may just end up building a powerhouse through free agency.

At 5÷ Hyman might be another victim if the cap. It is why I hate 4 forwards making half your cap.

You would think so but then some lunatic like Bergevin comes along and offers him 6M+. I mean Josh Anderson got 5.5x7 just last summer, and it's not like Covid did not exist then.

I bet everybody would like a do-over of the Calgary game he got injured, stupidly (in hindsight) stayed in the game and then got squashed.
I think he was done on the first play, staying in didn't help, but not sure it did further damage

We have yet to lose a core player since signing those 4.

And it won't start happening now.

Never listen to Dreger.

Hyman is going to get 6 mill on the open market.

He can't go a season without talking about how the Leafs won't be able to retain a player and then they do.
I don't think he'd get 6 mil on the open market. Maybe pre covid flat-cap. But not now.

If I remember right, I thought he was already shaking it off and then "the Rat" fell on top of him, it seemed to be a groin or hamstring injury made worse, (but I'm not positive about that).

I'm convinced he raised Marners price considerably, shilling for months he deserved as much as Matthews. Shuddup Dreger.

Of course he did, he basically said a team would be willing to give Marner a 13 millon/per offer sheet at one point. That's ridiculous and was probably direction from Marner's father.

I also loved when Chris Johnston heard it and said "I'd eat me shoe if Marner signs a 13 million/per offer sheet"

He is click bait in the flesh
player agents are also a big source of information

they are also a big source of misinformation as they negotiate in the media

sports and the relationship of all the components with the media will always be strange lol

I agree about Dreger but the reality is at some point (once our "core" players are all paid) unless the cap rises we will only be able to afford supporting players making the minimum.
