Post-Game Talk: Leafs Blow Another Lead, Lose to Avs

This is something the Jets have done extremely well this year. I think they have a good chance to advance to the west final.

Clock management and protecting a lead is a pleasure to watch, but you need a coach who has a game plan and committed troops to understand the importance of protecting the gains you've already achieved in the game. The careless back and forth, fire drills, that's not serious hockey.

The thing that really grinds my gears seeing this dumb team blow 3-1 and 3-0 leads is they don't seem to have a game plan how to behave afterwards.

They seem to be stuck in some non game plan where they're neither hunting for a back breaking goal and pushing offense, or going into clock management mode where you do the pucks in deep, smash them up for a few shifts and kill the will to come back. They don't seem to be aware of how to hold a lead, management momentum or do anything.

One of the greatest feelings in hockey is watching your team suffocate the opposition and close out a decent lead, burn up the clock and go home happy. Keefe does not seem to have a game plan how to achieve this. He is a fool.

Ever heard the saying that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit? This defense is chicken shit.

I think Winnipeg should be a great example to look at for Toronto. Got rid of the majority of the stars but became a better team. Sometime addition is by subtraction. Would you rather 2 players at 5.5 then 1 guy that isn’t doing much.

We are automatically losing if Marner stays here. The most unlikeable star on this team.

Kinda always has been for me, though I will admit I was not the biggest fan of Nylander either.

Regardless of being unlikable, in challenging and critical moments he fails.

This 8 game span should confirm what we are. Though, since the core and coach are the same, pretty sure we already know.

I'm just here to be proven wrong come playoff time, assuming we make it.

Mitch Marner falls into a similar category as a Johnny Gaudreau for me. He's a fun, skilled and often dominant player in the right circumstances but he's not going to out compete other big guns in a serious game. If it's an uncomfortable environment, he's not going to dig deep and persevere and gamebreak. I

I never understand why people get so emotional about Marner then call him a baby and other insults lol. It’s hella weird. It’s not that deep and if you care this deeply about Marner you need to reevaluate your life.

We are missing a two-way RHD to pair with Rielly who has size and physicality

And a Offensive LHD who plays with lilijgren bringin puck transitioning and in zone offensive creativity to assist lilijgrens calmer style of play

Brodie/Gio/Benoit should be 5/6/7

One of the very first things I noticed from him was when he blew the zone with makar on the ice we ended up getting hemmed in for a long shift he didn’t have a good game at all

Bertuzzi has not been good enough and I was one of the bigger supporters of signing him.

He isn't the greatest defensively and is very slow so alot of his value comes in being able to score goals and he simply hasn't done that this season.

Thankfully Keefe decided to roll out Giordano on 2PP for our only power play of the game. Up 3-0 with 40 mins to go, so that means turtle into a defensive mindset immediately.

Keefe always coaches terrified. Part of the reason why it takes him half a calendar year to even contemplate breaking up AM/Marner and why young players completely stagnate under him.

Why on Earth did Gregor play more minutes than Bertuzzi?

Bertuzzi spent a lot of time falling and crashing into his own team. He was awful. Watching him live tonight was painful.

Someone should tell the NHL the Toronto All-Star Game is canceled. We don't want to host your bullshit, take money from the local economy and funnel it into your cable access league, host your stars who can use their time in Toronto as a platform for whatever they're agenda is, see Gary Bettman. We don't want to help you grow the game, pay these nonsense Toronto prices to get game managed for the benefit of another team. Don't want nobody refs big timing Toronto like they're the star of the show. Eff off and get out.
