GDT: Leafs at Caps Tuesday 6 PM -- ESPN Frozen Frenzy

That comes next month when the Leafs only play 3 games in a stretch from Nov. 12-24 and a lot of fans are going to hate the game times for all 3.

Why?

First, the Leafs go to Stockholm (with Sens, Wings, and Wild) as part of the NHL Global Series. They play two games there:

* Friday, November 17 @ Wings (8 pm in Stockholm, 2 pm ET, 11 am PT)

* Sunday, November 19 @ Wild (2 pm in Stockholm, 8 am ET, 5 am PT)

Then, the Leafs return to North America and play a Black Friday game against the Blackhawks:

* Friday, November 24 @ Blackhawks (1 pm in Chicago, 2 pm ET, 11 am PT)

So, in comparison, a 6 pm start isn't too bad.

Obviously anything can happen, but this Washington team is in a bad place. I still can't figure out why they resigned Tom Wilson knowing that as soon as Ovechkin retires they will have to tear this team down.

We talked about a 2,1M player... a guy whos hit 20 and woukd hit 40 points without injury, who can play on pp, penalty kikl and on every situation on the ice sucessfully.. maybe what youre expecting from a 2,1M player is just not realistic because its a pretty good signing at 2,1M

Knies finally had a 1st good game alongside kampf and domi, no reason to move him from there to the top line.

Did anyone hear the reasoning behind why the NHL is starting every game 15 mins apart tonight?

I know it has to do with ESPN doing their new format but I still don't get the staggered times
 
It's a special promotion ("Frozen Frenzy") in that every team is playing, they're just making a thing out of it by staggering the times.

I think I say this every year, but looking at this schedule reminds me that I despise regional blackouts.

NHL is always looking for new fans, but have all their Canadian teans blacked out if not in region.

That’s exactly why. Espn is running an event called “Frozen Frenzy” which is going to be like NFL redzone. If they started all the games at the same time then most would be at intermission at the same time, this way there’s always action to go to

Every team is blacked out if you’re not in their region. Not just Canada. Don’t worry your leafs will be on SN or TSN today.

Looks like the puck should be in the Caps D zone for a ton of time.

Aside, interesting that the Hurricanes have had the puck so much, yet are last in the league in GA.
 
I like those lines. Gives the lineup a little more balance and if Knies and Domi can keep creating chemistry with one another that’ll be huge for this team and secondary scoring.

With Matthews taking PK time with Marner now too, his role is diminished there as well.

Gee, I wonder what Keefe is gonna do if they fall behind early again tonight?

Every other time his whole strategy has been to play the shit out of Matthews and Marner. And, good golly, he's doing it again. Matthews has played 120 minutes in 5 games for a whopping ATOI of 24 minutes per game.

Marner is the exact same.

It's always the same stupid stupid with Keefe. That's right, you heard me. Keefe is doubled down on stupid.

He's stupidly stupid.

What's the point of bringing in Bertuzzi if he's only getting 16 minutes a game with no pp opportunity? I can only imagine how impressed he is right now. Out there punching faces while Nylander is pissing himself crying in the corner.

That's the only time you'll find Nylander in the corner.

The Leafs need to start scoring first. Or they need to adjust their play. Because having Matthews and Marner on the ice for 24 minutes a game is not gonna end well.

"Us vs Them" teams tend to have problems that extend beyond just the on ice product.
