Matthew Ward got an invite? Good shit. I was hoping we'd draft him but his production fell off in the 2nd half of the season. I think he'll impress some people with how he plays and his shot.

Uh, I just realized Pano Fimis wasn't drafted???? (thanks Rogers) I had him ranked 41st, 6 spots ahead of Minten. I also REALLY like Matthew Ward (had him 96th).

Yeah, l think Fimis could use a nice ELC in the next week or so.

EP has him at 5'11. The guy put up borderline 1st round production at 18.3 and for my money one of the 10 best passers in the entire draft. Legit star potential for me... I can't believe he wasn't drafted.

Edit: I'm sorry, but look at this dudes microstats and imagine if he had anyone at all to play with.

I'm going to be really disappointed if he doesn't walk away with an ELC. He's a WAY better prospect than Kressler.

The kind of player the Leafs won't sign to an ELC but then put up 100 points next season and get drafted in the 2nd round.

Just our luck.

that's interesting - and 5'11" at 17 is actually a world of difference from 5'9".

Excited to see Jelsma on the list. Also, I'm glad people will actually see Minten and know this kid is more than a number on a list, he's got a lot of potential and talent.

Invites are meh.

Jelsma and Fimis are the most exciting for me. Jelsma was my top rated undrafted prospect in 2022 and I did not expect him to come here after he went to Florida's camp. Fimis is another interesting candidate, just to see how he takes instruction on his tools. They are the only two that get me excited enough about a potential ELC.

Larsen is good as an AHL contract candidate for the Marlies.

Elias is okay as a goalie invite. He didn't do well in the USHL on a bad team, but could be a re-entry candidate for next year if he figures things out a little bit. I liked Spunar better though.

The rest look like filler. Nothing special. Maybe a few future AHL contract candidates, and the odd guy who may have an outside chance of getting drafted at some point. Would have liked another couple of better defensive prospects like Mayer though. We need some defensive depth in the pool and that is a pretty pitiful list of defensive guys.

His tools are underwhelming, and when he had a chance to showcase himself in the WJC with some better players, he didn't take advantage.

I had him as a late round prospect. If he could develop his tools, he could be a solid middle 6 center, and was worth the bet in the late rounds.

Kressler had more refined tools, and showed them off at development camp. Also showed that his size was not a big obstacle. Fimis (and Jelsma) will need to show the same. Jelsma has great tools, but needs a better tool box.

Nice to see some Asian representation in Marcus Nguyen on that roster. Sounds like a high work rate mucker.

I disagree, but that's often what we do.

if we can sign one or 2 of the UD camp invites it will certainly mitigate the lack of picks. Some very intriguing names in that lot

We did make 5 picks, but it obviously sucks that some of them were iffy like Grebyonkin.

Has a college prospect ever said fk it and joined their NHL team. Are they allowed to?

Ya for sure. 5 picks isn't terrible, but its never a bad thing to add to the pool. There is some considerable talent in that lot, and the only real knock with some of them seem to be size. Avery Hayes and Pano Fimis look like real high end talent's that are just undersized.

You can teach a small player to play bigger, but it's incredibly tough to teach IQ and skill.

I'd be very interested in these 2 invitees
