According to various reports (from the likes of Kypreos, McKenzie, and Dreger) the Leafs and Flames could be in discussions in regards to Dougie Hamilton. The reports vary in what would be required to obtain the 6'6 Rh shot defensemen. I'm hear to suggest the following. Please feel free to leave constructive criticism:)

To Leafs
Troy Brouwer/Micheal Ferland
Dougie Hamilton

To Flames
William Nylander
Peter Holland
Matt Hunwick

Cheers

I'd pass. Calgary acquired Hamilton for a reason. Trading him just creates a hole on defense again.

Zero interest in Holland or Hunwick, and zero interest in moving Ferland/Hamilton.

Because there aren't a billion Leafs/Flames threads already

And rumor? Where's the source?

Anyway, if we're going to do this yet again, let's get this started on the right foot

Hamilton for Marner+

Hamilton is a proven RHD and those cost a lot. Marner is unproven so hence the plus.

Anything written regarding the Leafs and Flames (specifically Hamilton)? I thought this was all pure speculation. Any radio hits?

Leafs would have to give a good return if this is true... and it would most likely involve a young player that fans say isn't available IMO.... but then again who really knows what type of return Flames want.. maybe they are just looking at getting prospects/picks and opening cap room

also I hear Peter Holland is available haha

What we all discuss - Hamilton for Marner? Matthews? Gaudreau?

What we will recieve - Lance Bouma for Martin Marincin

If there really is a deal coming, it's probably something minor like this.

Every single source talking about Hamilton basically just says that teams are calling about him. That's it. Treliving wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't hear out offers.

Nope.

Does Dreger directly ask the general managers if they’re talking trade? Does he get an answer? Does he believe that answer?

“I do ask it that directly,†said Dreger. “And sometimes it’s just simply a text that just says, ‘Are you hearing anything out there? There’s some rumor and speculation around you guys that you might be willing to do this.’ And you throw out a name. Or you keep it more broad, more vague.

“And it’s like fishing. Sometimes they’ll bite and they’ll give you more than you were expecting. Sometimes you’ve got to work at it a little bit.

“But just to circle back to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Calgary Flames, specific to the rumors over the past day or two – I asked Brad Treliving point-blank yesterday if he had anything going on with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I didn’t suggest Hamilton. I just said ‘Anything.’ And his response was: ‘Nothing. Zero.’

“So when managers tell you that that specifically – that bluntly – then that means that they don’t want that conversation to contnue on because there’s nothing there, at least for the moment.â€

Its not gonna happen on HF, this entire thread will go no where. Flames fans would not trade Johnny for Rielly, Leaf fans would not trade Marner for Dougie. Just wait for a Larsson-Hall deal to happen and see a bunch of angry whoever traded for Dougie fans.

There is zero oercent chance that the Leafs trade Nylander. None whatsoever. We are in no rush. We have 25M in dead cap space and a team still in the playoff hunt after finishing dead last with good possession numbers as well. There is no need to trade for anyone unless it's cheap.

You wouldn't get Marner for any of your players or prospects

Hamilton won't get you Marner+, unless by plus you mean minus.

No to trading nylander for Hamilton. No to trading kadri for Hamilton. I understand that flames fans will say the same and don't won't to trade hamilton. I really hope the leafs don't go after hamilton unless it's for a pieces besides rielly, matthews, marner, Kadri, nylander, and 2017 1st. It won't happen though without that and I hope the leafs don't try and accelerate a upcoming rebuild by trading away a core piece this early. I'm confident nothing will happen the leafs will remain patient until a better and cheaper target appears. Hamilton is great but not for what the flame fans want in return.

Hmmmm not sure this is quite enough for Hamilton

Marner, Matthews, and Nylander combined are still not proven enough for a quality dman like Hamilton

I would consider our proven C Tyler Bozak for your proven D Dougie Hamilton

I don't really like the idea of Leafs acquiring Hamilton if that's who they are targeting. It will cost the Leafs too much in return and IMO there is just no need for it. Leafs are a young and exciting team and I don't think many people expect them to make playoffs BUT there is a chance it could happen. You never know... so Id let this season run out and keep doing what they are doing and re address everything in the offseason as far as needed areas of improvement.

Every team looks to shed salary in offseason, so there could be a lot of players available for Leafs to target. And the fact that the team is exciting as hell to watch, im sure some good players will choose TO to sign in

If we really were going to get him I think we would probably have to put our first in play because none of our big three seems likely.

If M'N'M aren't available(which id assume all 3 aren't), absolutely Leafs 1st would be involved in a package deal going back to Flames
