I think it would be foolish of the Leafs to trade Nylander after drafting and developing him for last 2 years. Hamilton is good but he really doesn't upgrade Toronto's blueline.

Saying we shouldn't trade Nylander for Hamilton is accurate saying Hamilton wouldn't upgrade the D when Marincin Polak and Hunwick are all on our D isn't just wrong it's a lie

Points? He set a career high last year. He's on pace for another 40+ point season again this year without the team even having much power play success so far.

Corsi? He's a 53.8% Corsi player right now on a team that has no Patrice Bergeron like the Bruins did.

If I had to guess, I think you're close. But I don't get why we'd add Marcincin when we have guys like Jokkipakka who I think is similar.

I also can't help but feel that with the silence regarding Wotherspoon lately, it might be him being the one getting a fresh start. Another similar guy is Poirier.

JVR is complete non-starter for Calgary.

LW depth is Gaudreau-Tkachuk and perhaps Bennett. There's no room for JVR.

Ditto for Kadri. Center depth is Monahan-Backlund and maybe Bennett and with the promising Jankowski close. There's no room for Kadri.

If that's all the Leafs can offer then there will not be a deal. The Flames are listening in on Hamilton, not shopping him.

JVR would be a better option than Tkachuk depending on what the team's aims are. He'll do more for your scoring and special teams than Tkachuk will probably give for the next 2 years or so. If you're looking to take a step back this year, then yes you'd be better off giving Tkachuk minutes.

If you're looking to win, to not want Kadri on your team after what he's done so far is pretty crazy.

Ideally I'd like to deal our futures if we're trading for Hamilton, but again it depends on what Calgary mgmt wants to do with the team.

Both JVR and Kadri would upgrade our forward lines, but it just leaves a huge hole on defense. Trading him for either doesn't make sense.

According to various reports (from the likes of Kypreos, McKenzie, and Dreger) the Leafs and Flames could be in discussions in regards to Dougie Hamilton. The reports vary in what would be required to obtain the 6'6 Rh shot defensemen. I'm hear to suggest the following. Please feel free to leave constructive criticism
