I have to say, Samsonov outplaying Vasilvesky was the key to the series but Morgan Rielly was our heart and soul. I kinda agree. Leafs were the better team last year, but TB got all the breaks. On paper the Leafs are a better team this year vs last year, but they didn't drive as much play, and just sorta hung around in games, and got all the lucky breaks. Last year we get a phantom high stick call that ruined us, this year we get the no call on a highstick. TB was hungry and showed up every game, except game 2, I can't say the Leafs showed the same compete, they mostly relied on skill to out score their problems.

I wouldn’t say that.
Game 1: TB was better but when Leafs made it 3:2, refs took over the game.
Game 2: Leafs
Game 3: TB was better and Leafs was lucky to steal that game
Game 4: TB played great in the first. Pretty even in the 2nd except for the score. Leafs was amazing in the 3rd but just couldn’t score till 10mins in.
Game 5: the game was pretty even both teams didn’t allow much except for Holl and Sammy with a weak goal.
Game 6: TB was better but Leafs didn’t give up odd man rushes.

TB was the better team but Leafs hang in there and won the series.

I hear what you're saying, reading comments from American fans who haven't ever laced up a pair of skates, let alone played an organized game of hockey is pretty comical. Saying that, there are many fans south of the border who are as passionate and knowledgeable as us, painting them all with the same brush is a little shirt sighted. The detrimental comments about the country aren't really accurate either, but this isn't a political forum so I'll leave those alone.
As for for the NHL survival, if not for American money the league would be a shadow of what it is. Sad, but true.
