It's purely a matter of personal taste. Some people hate playing the off side, some don't care, some prefer it.
Personally, I have played a lot on each side, and don't really care. I'm a leftie, and I have played with quite a number of lefties who are much better than me on the left side, but not as good on the right side. And some who can play on the right, but have trouble switching from side to side within a game, i.e., one shift on the right side, and the next shift on the left. I have no problem with doing that.
