Hate to see Woll go, but we knew a goalie was being moved and Woll likely had the most trade value. Even keel trade depending on what the contracts are, neither player is under contract as of today

The Leafs traded their best goalie for essentially nothing, and a negative value asset. They are a worse team thats easier to play against after this trade. And they made the deal with a team who owns their first.

Well done Chayka, A+

If Woll was our best goalie we’re f***ed anyway. He could never stay healthy and sucked ass all last year.

Hello Leaf fans, I come in peace. Im a big analytics nerd so can kinda give some insight on why this is a good pickup (and why Chayka wanted Emil Andrae)

Simply put, he wins his minutes on the ice at an incredible rate. He is in the 80th% in zone exits and puck moving. Hes small, but he makes your blue line instantly more mobile and much better at moving the puck up the ice

The middle column is the big one for me. He is elite at zone exits under possession, both at skating it out and passing it out

This is a good pickup using a position you have alot of depth in to acquire one.

Andrae got suppressed a lot due to who was in front of him in the Flyers lineup (Sanheim, York) so he couldn't get the offensive minutes needed to do what he does best.

I can definitely see him as a candidate to show value when given the minutes.

It's a good gamble. But yes, it's a gamble.

I think the real value is the added bonus of the cap space and pick along with the chance to extract full value out of Andrae.

I don't love this.

Andrae is a little intriguing. Younger with more mobility than a lot of the current back line. Maybe it signals Mo is on the move soon.

From the goalie angle I don't get it at all.

They didn’t trade their best goalie. To be honest, this tells me one of three things.

1. Stolarz value is pretty bad league wide

2. The leafs staff believe at their best and healthiest Stolarz gives us a better chance to win

3. Joe Woll’s value isn’t as high as people on this board think

In fact I think all three are probably true

Good to hear. Our backend is woefully incapable of a breakout pass or zone entry as it currently stands

I agree Woll had little value, thats why I wouldve kept him. He's still more reliable than Stolarz

Just doing a quick watch of some highlights and looking at his height/weight, I wonder if he can have a similar impact to someone like Rasmus Sandin?

Woll for a 2nd is what I always expected, I proposed that to the Oilers before. Andrae + 3rd is basically a 2nd in value. Not sure why people are freaking out.

Hildeby was the best Leafs goalie last season and is the cheapest. Stolarz has the highest ceiling and no value after an injured year. Woll always made the most sense to move.
