Confirmed with Link: Leafs Acquire Brandon Carlo 15 Retention for Fraser Minten Cond 2026 1st Round Pick and A 2025 4th Round Pick

Should've not done the Laughton deal at all and if you still wanted Carlo then trade a 1st and Grebenkin at most. Laughton right now isn't doing anything more than Minten when he played for the Leafs and possibly even less. Should've just kept playing Minten at 3C and see if he could adapt and handle it and if not send him down and wait until next year. Giving up a 1st and Grebs for Laughton is looking increasingly horrible for the Leafs.

Give me a 20 year old Minten who will likely be at least as good as prime Laughton if not better for the next 10 years on the Leafs over a 30 year old center who doesn't seem to excel at anything for us that we paid a heavy price for.

It's not too long ago when theAthletic projected Minten as a 4th line center in our prospect ranking.
That’s their opinion minten bottoms out at 3c in my opinion the kid is smart defensively sound can shoot the pucc and he’s barely legally an adult ffs

If Berube won't use a player that isn't on the GM.

He's been excellent, fits like a glove on the team for his role

It's been funny seeing Bruins fans bend over backwards telling us he sucks. Seems like he works just fine as a #4
He was a mainstay in Boston as a top-four defenseman in prior years, but his play declined, and he wasn't a good fit with Zadorov. Zadorov is more of a physical, stay-at-home defenseman, and Carlo is also a stay-at-home defenseman, making the fit a bit awkward. They struggled together, and neither was particularly elite at moving the puck.

From a fit perspective, he makes much more sense playing with the Leafs. The Leafs are in win-now mode and needed a stay-at-home right defenseman for Rielly, whereas Boston is retooling and needs a more offensive-minded right defenseman to pair with Zadorov. Carlo is a 10/10 fit with Leafs, but just wasn't in Boston.

People will sensationalize the trade on either end, but each team has a different need and are at different stages. think it's simply a good trade for both teams, in my opinion.

Way too early to pass judgement.
Laughton hasn’t found his game here yet but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to.
Price was heavy, but bottom 6 players like Laughton are the kind teams win with.
I expect he’ll make his impact felt in the playoffs

I sure hope so! But whether that happens or not, the Leafs window is closing, they have this year and one maybe two at most after that before their D is simply too old to contend so if Laughton can help us now, that's way more important than what Minten might do over the next 10 years.

I don't have much hope of winning the cup with this group but having gone this far and with core locked up with NMC's, may as well go for it.

Liked this trade immediately.

Finally addressed 2RHD in a meaningful way.

Hard to lose Minten but if we had filled 2C properly there wasn’t going to be anywhere in the lineup for Minten going forward.

We lost a good prospect and a 1st but we got value back and Carlo figures to be an important player here going forward.

Us bruins fans aren't wrong in telling you he sucked this year for the bruins. He had a massive drop in play.

He's a great dude and I hope he does well for you except when we play each other.

He sucked for you guys this year, but the same can be said for almost your entire roster

Put him in a better environment with a puck mover beside him and he's back to looking amazing

I think this is a great explanation for his season with Boston. What player has looked good for them this year? Not many. So I don't think his down year with them is indicative of some steep decline.

I'm really happy with this move so far. The fact that he's got 2 more years after this one at under 3.5 million is a steal. Add in the fact that Carlo has clearly been good for Rielly and this might be the best deadline move in ages.

To be fair, he was an absolute disaster even when he got to play of Lindholm. Carlo was a big reason the D sucked early on and he lost minutes to mediocre defenseman such as Andrew Peake and Wotherspoon.

Yes the bruins have sucked all year, but Carlo looked like it was player falloff.

Yeah defensemen of his type tend to look bad when they play on bad teams, just the way it is.

When the Bruins acquired Lindholm he wasn't exactly killing it in Anaheim either.

Yep. The guy was getting very rough usage on a bad team,.easy way to get some caved in stats.

His underlying numbers have been excellent since coming here, and he's still getting that heavy d-zone usage

He's also 28 years old. This is not some physical vet dman who is 34 and best years are over. From what I have seen his best ability is his skating and long stick. His game should age pretty well

He's had like 5 concussions and a couple major injuries, has been in the league since 19, if anything the bruins moved him because they were worried about him again poorly.

Either way, I don't think he would have rebounded in Boston, I'm glad he's doing it somewhere. Hopefully it turns into a win-win trade.
