Team saves about 3.8ish mil for the duration of his current deal then gets stuck with an additional 2.1ish mil cap penalty until 2035.

Not sure it's worth it.
Yeah I think the only way out is if he waives his NMC. No point even pondering that as Rielly's probably staying come hell or high water.

Maybe it needs to go down the Jacob Trouba road of public campaigning and hostile pressuring if his play doesn't at least stabilize. At some point you mandate change and run a guy out of town. Frankly, his play warrants that kind of hostility because he looks like a guy who's happy mailing it in and making the same excuses looking like a guilty school boy after every game.

The one break is as Tre didn't sign the current deal, is it's easier for him to go to Reilly in the off-season and ask if there are teams he'd be open to waving for.

That said, hard to get a read on how the team is viewing him moving forward

I would read Morgan the riot act behind the scenes. We covered your ass in public about freeing up your defensive conscience to play more offensively. We got Brandon Carlo to come in and kiss your butt about what a legend you are. And you continue to play like late stage TJ Brodie and cost us we're going to forcefully move you this summer.

His long term struggles have been to an unprofessional. He looks out of shape. His head is in the clouds. No joking around anymore.

If the organization tells Rielly they no longer want him anymore he will move on, like most people would.

It might be easy, or he might jam them up a bit, but there are very few examples of players that will battle it out till the end.

I think the fact that Tree approached Marner about waiving his NMC and he wasn't the one who extended Rielly gives you a bit of insight into how he will operate. I suspect the list of places that Rielly will accept a trade to is very small.

Calgary, Seattle, Vancouver and Los Angeles would all make sense to various degrees because of the proximity of Rielly's parents in BC.

I think you can knock Vancouver of the conversation right away since they just extended Marcus Pettersson and have Quinn Hughes at LD.

Calgary could make sense but the return is likely very soft, maybe Yegor Sharangovich, Blake Coleman or Nazem Kadri would be coming back.

Hey guys. Are you guys okay losing Fraser Minton in this trade. Read good things about him. 2nd i prospect rankings.
Much rather him than Cowan. Hope he does well (not too well on the Bruins) but his upside seems limited to a good 3C. Nothing wrong with that, just not enough offence from him at any level.
