Most of our defenceman weren’t even strong defensively in junior/college. 4/6 are just becoming NHL regulars. I get that a lot of people don’t actually have the experience to identify defensive zone strategies, but what MSL has implemented is pretty standard. Coaching change is not going to have our players winning 50/50 battles, processing coverage, or identifying basic outlets quickly and consistently.

It’ll take time. Might never get there with some of these guys. We’re still in the finding out stage as to whether a couple of these guys have NHL careers at all.
