How does Philly keep doing this? Good on their scouts. Very impressive.
Its funny because for years we simply could not draft or sign decent d man.....it has been a completely turn around for us since getting Ghost and then Sanheim and Provs and Myers....and now Zamula....

Pretty funny guy... will be nice to see him in the NHL soon and keeping things a bit lighter in interviews. Has a personality and lets it actually show.

We just look to see what undrafted RHD Calgary invites to their rookie camp, then doesn't sign, and we invite them to out rookie camp.

Pretty flawless strategy. Worked with Myers. Worked with Zamula.

I have been amazed by Zamula all season for the Hitmen, nice to see him get some love and notice in the hockey community. He's a fantastic prospect.

Looks like Zamula's coach thought he was better than Romanov. ;)

Even played Zamula 22:02 per game, Roman 20:39.

Don’t think his offence will translate but he can turn into a good modern day defensive defencemen. Great find for Philly.

Russians played 15 minutes on the PP plus Romanov had to sit out a penalty. As per IIHF, they have both played the same number of shifts Romanov's shift being 35s on average and 45s for Zamula which makes a pretty massive difference in the end.

Are you talking just today...as I am talking in the tourney. Zamula played over 25 minutes today.

The point is, the coach named him top Dman and played him the most.

Not bad for an undrafted NHL and current CHL Dman(something a certain someone said something like "let's wait and see how he does against tougher competition at the WJC

Passed with flying colors.

Strange right? Romanov didn't get a top 3 player nod last year either and was D of the tournament. The commentators even joked about what more Romanov had to do to be named a top 3 player. To me he was better than Zamula and is a next tier prospect.

And it's ok to have different opinions. Both had very good tourney's.

It was more playful "dig" at the people who wanted to see Zamula against the tougher competition and expected him to fail. He didn't, he excelled. That's all.

I didn't realize that. And generally I agree very much, Zamula had a great tournament and Philly did a great job to get him.

Having said that, Romanov got the best D of the tournament award last year without being top-3 player on the team so I guess Russian coaches just value something else than what he brings.

Same way as Denisenko is ranked among those for the 2nd year in a row. Was he top-3 player on this team this year? In the group stage, I would make a point he was below average between Russian forwards altogether.

Making his very good WJC even more impressive

Inb4 people start to asking what is written there, the news is about Zamula telling in Instagram something like this:

"My season is over. I should've been healing the injury for awhile, but I really wanted to play at the WJC and played there. Didn't tell anyone about it, as otherwise coaches wouldn't take me. After the WJC it is now all clear and in 10 days I'm going to have a surgery. Recovery should take 3-4 months."

He must have hid the injury like a wizard. Bragin cuts players immediately who fail to disclose injuries to the training staff (Chekhovich, Namestnikov to name a few).

Wow, hope this isnt anything that will affect his career and more importantly long term health, he was super noticeable at the wjc.

I'm actually starting to have a significant amount of sympathy for Flyers fans with Lindblom and now Zamula. (this is saying something as a devils fan)

Fingers crossed for both of them.
