Lou said the top 4 is already in place for the future

Dermott-Valiev-Neilson-Loov

Ehhhhh I don't really feel comfortable at all in believing all of those guys are going to be top-4 dman. And no Rielly? Zaistev? Gardiner? I'm not sure if that's your version of the future top-4 or somebody elses, but it's odd to say the least.

As I said, not my idea, it was before Zaitsev and CCarrick (who I also see making the big club this year)

He's somehow underrated as a leafs prospect.

All talk about nielsen and he slips under the radar.

And that top 4 will be the marlies top 4 this year, unless holl sneaks in.

The Leafs have known they were getting Zaitsev pretty much since Lou was hired, he just wasn't able to officially sign until his KHL contract ended.

But if those were the four sounds like he was talking about the Marlies. I don't think Loov is a top-4 in the NHL.

It's because he plays such a safe and quiet game. Really sound defensively, good not great offensively. Pretty safe bet for a #4 IMO.

Dermott has an agitating element to his game, and he will step up and break up plays rather aggressively.

The only thing I am surprised about is that he's listed at 5'11...I thought he was bigger.

He's 5'11/6'0 and 200lbs. Kind of like Rielly in that regard, not huge but very solid on his skates.

Gives off a bit of a Gunnarsson vibe, who was really under appreciated. Just steady.

I don't see Gunnarsson at all imo. Gunnar was the perfect example of a steady, risk free, passive D. I don't think I ever saw him out of position.

Dermott from what I've seen is much more likely to rush the puck, step up to make a neutral zone hit, or be more active in terms of defending. A more dynamic player, but also a bit riskier in terms of getting caught.

He was 197 lbs at the combine but came to camp at 207 lbs. Guy is a tank.

He is absolutely strong on his skates, I guess I thought he was closer to 6'0'6'1, but yeah yeah an inch doesn't make much of a difference.

Rielly is 6'1 and he comes out of puck battles a lot against some pretty big guys.

he was the best dman in the OHL this past season imo

from my viewings Sergachev impessed me a little more despite the extra year of development for dermott. Nevertheless happy to have dermott, looks like he could be a solid 2nd pair guy.

im a Habs fan and i didnt even have Sergachev in my top 5, his play down the stretch wasnt good. #1 Dermott #2 Masin #3 Dunn for me.

Has to be one of the most underrated prospects.

Been playing really solid hockey for the Marlies. Even tho it wont happen could easily see him stepping in right now being able to handle a bottom pairing role. One of those defencemen who do everything good but nothing great. He's a good skater with sneaky puck moving ability.

Should definitely make a strong case to start the 17/18 season with the Leafs.

There is a *little* bit of Duncan Keith in there imo, but needs to work on his shot, the one good thing I can say about is it will go through traffic.
