I'm excited about this guy, too bad he's probably 3 years away.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how much he matures physically and mentally over the next year or so. I don't think 2 years is out of the question. Fowler and Lindholm both made it at early ages so the Ducks aren't afraid to let a player learn on the job a bit. From what I understand, he was great in camp this year.

He was amazing in training camp, the good thing is we don't have to rush him with all the young defensemen we have in front of him. Similar to our goalie situation with John Gibson.

So happy with that pick

Weird he have almost as much goals as assists, for a defenseman. Zero vision? :sarcasm:

I like the fact he can score goals. I dont think there`s any doubt he can make a great pass too.

This kid is amazing what a pick up we picked him a lot earlier but the Ducks scouts are awesome just like when they picked Hampus Lindholm early. STUDS.

Just going by stats, Theodore was one of my favs for Habs at 25 last draft. Between him and Petan. I looked at Thedore's stats at end of last season, he had size, offense and HN preview said he had good wheels. I said well, at 25, he could be a diamond.

I picked him in our mock draft, and was ecstatic that everyone left him on there for me at #30 for the Blackhawks. Did a lot of digging around on him, and he looked/s to have all the tools to be productive at the next level, gets a lot of praise from those around him, and was poised to get major minutes in a major role again this year, which is good for the development of a guy like him.

27gp 12goals 20assists 32points +5.

Looks like a really decent pick for the ducks. +5 is solid for such a poor team, and he does get quite a few points on the PP.

the goals are what stand out to me, i think that's a skill that can transfer to the pro's

There should be serious thought of (maybe) (perhaps) converting him to forward like Brent Burns. The problem I see is he isn't that physical in the corners or in front of the net on defense.

How are they a poor team? 16-9-4 (with equal GF and GA) sounds about average.

Sacrifices a lot of defense to put up points. leaves his D partner out to dry on lots of odd man rushes from turnovers. Has a looong way to go defensively.
Offensively he is amazing though. His vision and passing have really improved and he is a much better PPQB this year. Phenomenal shot seems to get it though alot. Unreal skater and likes to join in the rush (maybe too much). Had a coast to coast goal the other night where he just blew past the entire team, it was sick. Definitely an interesting prospect

i'm willing to wait it out and see how he physically matures those are areas that can be improved hes stillreally thin

The Ducks sure have a terrific and underrated scouting staff.

Yup yup. The ever since 08 the drafts have been amazing.

Did he play forward when he would younger?

doh, i hoped he`d progress defensively, but i guess he isn`t much...

IIRC he played 1st SH minutes in national junior team. Is he playing any SH time in Seattle?

Theodore will be on the team next year barring a massive drop-off in play

... or if he is so impressive in camp and preseason that the Ducks keep him up.

The Ducks are one team who are not afraid to launch their young defensemen into the pressure cooker - Fowler and Lindholm are two examples.

If Theodore finishes the season with 30+ goals, over a point-per-game in the WHL, and makes an outstanding impression in camp/preseason, he will get a long look. That's how the Ducks roll.

I doubt it unless Sbisa is moved.

Fowler-Lovejoy
Beauchemin-Lindholm
Allen-Vatanen
Souray-Sbisa

All signed next year
