Reminds me of Josi imo, similar puck skills, build and both have blossomed in their d+1 years after being picked later on.
He stacks up pretty well with basically any U20 defensemen that have played in the AHL not just 18 year olds which is an admittedly small sample. His season is just straight up outstanding regardless. Not a knock on him as he has been amazing this season for sure, but important to note that those 5 listed in the tweet are essentially the ONLY 5 to ever play in the AHL as18yo in history... so it's a very, very small sample.

Yeah I would agree. It's basically a cool stat but there aren't enough peers to make it meaningful. Plus you don't really even need to frame his season to that degree to make his season seem impressive. Opening up the sample to older players shows off how well he has played in a better way. I think we will see more European players spending the D+1 in the AHL as time goes on now though as players start having success with it like Sandin is.Absolutely. That’s why I’m saying it’s been a very impressive season for him no doubt. I think him being 5th in PPG for U20 is way more impressive than him being 1st in a 5 person sample.
People saying he has “the best 18yo season for a D in AHL history” is factual, but really means nothing though when you actually look at what it really means. It’s trying to make him sound better when there are plenty of better reasons to list than that.

Conveniently scrolled over this tweet too then I guess?
As others have pointed out, maybe read the next page before commenting.
Never apologize to deplorablesSorry, I'm just conditioned to assume anything you post is anti-Leaf.
3A in his first AHL playoff game.

I don't mind it at all. Let the kid ride heavily under the radar and just put work in then hop onto the main team when it is time to go.I love how dead this thread has been because there is nothing negative to be said

He played half a season... dont try to imply anything from that other than hes doing well
Brannstrom played 50 games. Only 2 or 3 of them played over 40 (including Sandin). The rest were 30 or less.
Don't try to imply anything from that, other than that you didn't check before posting.
lol.
Just hilarious. Will reach for anything to try and dismiss Sandin’s Season.
If he was drafted for any other team, this thread would be filled with people claiming him to be the next big thing along with Brannstrom.
