I don't think he was able to touch the puck even once outside the defensive zone that period. All he did was defending rushes and defend in his own zone. The offensive game of the Sabres is basically non-existent.
I have no idea why they keep housley as a coach. If he was a shl coach he would been canned already.

Still very early in the season but defensive zone starts with no PP time?

Getting Adam Larsson with the Devils flashbacks. I'd much rather see him dancing on the blue line with Frölunda, this is not how you develop a high end talent.

It’s almost like we use him to play defense.

Is there any shift-by-shift's of Dahlins first two games? Would be very grateful.

EDIT: Found one:

Looking damn good in his debut. Nick Lidström vibes with som added physicality. His outlet passes work just as well on the NHL level. I don't see how anyone can claim he's not NHL ready?

He's not better than Eichel, at least not yet. Watching some of their games I can understand why fans get frustrated by Eichel though.

One day (2-4 years from now) he will be one of the best (if not the best ever) but at the moment..
he is obviously not NHL ready d-man. - far from it, just hoping that they don't ruin his development
by, now hasting his come to the big leagues.
The kid was slicing and dicing the game like Lidstrom in his first start. That's a hell of a lot more impressive than making a couple flashy plays. He's the real deal. Buffalo is lucky to have him.

Yes. Eichel wishes he had Dahlin's brain for the game.

Agreed. Dahlin is absolutely incredible and the rest of the fan bases will find out very soon. I have been to both Sabres games and my season tickets are 2nd row in the Dahlin corner so I watched every detail of this kids game. He was the best player on the ice and his hockey IQ is off the charts on top of his incredible skating and tape to tape passes.
Hit the crossbar last night and Lindqvist made a great save on his breakaway. Always looking to join the rush. Thrilled.

Still confused why people are claiming Heiskanen is better then this kid. I think they are pretty close but Dahlin is still the better talent.

I mean Heiskanen is further along the development curve ( duh he's a year older ) and he's on a more stable team

I don't think there are many who believe Heiskanen's potential is higher than Dahlin. There were just some people who wouldn't believe Heiskanen might have been more valuable player last season and this season.

yeah the finn has the better TEAM doesn't mean he's the BETTER player. Dahlin by a country mile. seriously watch this kid play he's been spectacular

you're also gonna tell me that if jason botts called jim nill and said Dahlin for heskianen that jim nill would decline, seriously get real, there a reason this kid has been compared to lidstrom and hedman and KARLSSON

Nill would decline but that doesn't mean Dahlin isn't a spectacular talent. It's funny how some people are failing to accept that there are 2 amazing young European defenders debuting in the NHL this year.

Dahlin is definitely something else though. How many 18 year olds have ever played defense that well in the NHL, ever? No more than a few, and it's his offensive ability that makes him generational.
