Was at semi and final games. Today it was a bit rougher day it felt. But the game was very close all the time so no surprise.
Not many 18 yo defencemen are ready to do what he did.

lol that's obvious, thought people said the tweet was about him wanting to play for a specific team only.

He did -- it was a joke. A hardcore MTL fan saying Power is amazing and that Power sent letters to all teams except MTL saying "don't draft me." A joke that seemed to go over people's heads because of the weird way he worded it.

He will be nr1 but he aint way better then the 4-5 after him in the draft. It is closer then it usually is.

At this point he is, imo.

The thing is that maybe some of the next picks surpass him along the way, but that is not guaranteed.
Power is a pretty safe pick to get a star defenseman. Weather he will be a superstar will be determined how much offense he can produce. He is more effectiveness than flashyness, hard to tell how that will be in the NHL. I do think there is some limitation for him, but don't let that fool you for his overall capabilities. He's a stud, Buffalo should be happy.

The ones who could not play in world championship could have been as impressive or more. Yeah two nr1 Ds aint bad at all. Will be interesting to follow.

I honestly thought he wasn't going to be very good when he got against stronger competition and he never really impressed me.

Color me impressed and feed me crow, for now. Its early but if he continues like this I will happily eat crow.

Just saw on twitter he is leaning towards returning to college next season. Obviously the choice is out of his hands. But interesting to come out and say thats what he is leaning towards and wants to do

I see that as a win for Buffalo. He might be able to play in the NHL next year but he's definitely not too good for the NCAA. Dominating on a stacked Michigan team won't hurt his development. Plus it gives Buffalo (or whoever drafts him) more time to build a D core that wouldn't force him to play huge minutes right off the bat.

Glad he's come out and said this. Obviously things could change but this puts pressure on whichever team drafts him (likely Buffalo) not to rush his development.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a cup of coffee after Michigan's season ends.

Yes it is. He will do whatever the team that drafts him tells him to do.

I would hope this organization learned a lesson by slow cooking kids before ruining their careers (see Grigorenko). It was obvious this season to see Casey and Tage come back to the roster after a stint in Rochester to develop their game.

If they choose Power, letting him finish out in college followed by some time in the A would be welcomed.

What if he also goes back for his Junior year and another Adam Fox situation develops?

If I were Buffalo I would want to get him signed as soon as possible.

One year in college then NHL

It's a possibility but my guess is he'll sign after next season. If he's completely unwilling to sign with Buffalo then they should probably figure that out now and either draft someone else or trade the pick.

That will be his choice. He can do whatever he wants until he signs with Buffalo; it's just that going back to Michigan without their approval might earn him a negative reputation around the league and create tension between him and the front office.

That's why I expect his agent (sorry, 'representative') to talk them into it behind closed doors. These public statements Power is making about going back to college are the opening salvos.

Power is not ready for the NHL and Michigan is a better place to develop and dominate than the AHL. If the experience of ruining Ristolainen's development and almost ruining Dahlin's development by rushing them into the NHL out of greed isn't enough to temper Buffalo's expectations, then they deserve to blow another high draft pick.

Sabres fans who worry about Power pulling an Adam Fox need to get some perspective ASAP, and I'm saying this as a Flames fan. A prospect of Power's stature is not going to hide out in college for three more years. It's absolutely not going to happen. Players want to play in the NHL as soon as they're ready, which was also the case for Fox. If Power hates your organisation that much, he'll demand a trade like Eichel and Reinhart did and there's no unfair labour practice NHL teams can exploit to stop players from doing that. At some point it's on the franchise to foster an environment players want to be in.
