You're going off by our recent practice lines I assume? Him being on the fourth pair was only due to handedness (hes playing left handed RD with Zadorov a lot, but Boqvist is back and Bowey needed a LD partner).

Almost all of us are sure it means nothing, coz JC is playing 7D basically all the season as is - although he's shown to like the occasional scratch for young guys too. The handling of the young guys definitely follows the same pattern. Dach and Mitchell were the same, give them limited time until they earn it consistently, and then basically no looking back. I like it actually, he's really easing them in, but makes sure to reward them.

Beaudin is trending super well. JC is a huge fan, to a point where it's a running joke for us. He can't stop gushing about him lol. I expect steady bigger minutes after the trade deadline. Well deserved too, his strength and thus game imrpoved significantly this off-season. Very steady and calm.
This is absolutely based off practice lines. Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it. Been watching Beaudin for a while and loving what I've been seeing from the kid. I mostly admire the clear confidence he has displayed - totally different from last year. Rooting for him!

Yeah definitely what I like about him too. Calm and cool as a cucumber, which allows him to make some really great passes and plays. No doubt he'll be a very nice d-men in this league :DD

Looks like he might be healthy scratched next game. Really seems like the Hawks are trying not to be consistently giving all the kids too much ice time.... I mean he's got Kurashev on the 4th line now after playing extremely well. Curious to see how this plays out for the rest of the season.

Aaand just like that he was scratched last game lol. Sorry @JohnLennon I know nothing.

He should play every game. Chicago is not going to win the Cup anytime soon so they should let their kids play...

LOL I saw that too. All good, I doubt it lasts. They need to get Boqvist, Murphy some games after injury. Not sure why they didn't sit deHaan or Zadorov instead but have to think seniority comes into play at some point.

I am really interested i seeing how they deploy two players in particular for the rest of the season: Kurashev and Beaudin. They both kind of came out of nowhere and performed above expectations and I'd love to see them get bigger minutes and thrive. Eager to see next game's lines!

Yeah agree on all accounts. I like JC's handling of young guys tbh, but hard to not get impatient. We all want to see them as much as possible.

Was surprised that he did not stick with the Hawks considering how well he played in the game I saw. Why was he demoted? Haven't seen any of his AHL games but it seems that he bas been killing it with 9 points in his first 6 games.

He keeps getting bounced up and down AHL to NHL. Spending a lot of time on the taxi squad. He actually got called back up again yesterday, but didn't play in yesterday's game. I kind of wish they just kept him in one league and let him play more consistently, but I'm not a professional at player development. In any case, he looks to be having a fantastic season in both leagues. Watching a few of his Hawks games, and he can legitimately quarterback their powerplay, he's an excellent passer, very creative player, and he's improved defensively. I wish they kept him up long-term, but the fact of the matter is that they have too many defense at the NHL level, and most of them are vets or higher on the depth chart than Beaudin. I have to think he's a full-timer next year judging by the progress he has made.

I think part of the problem is that Chicago is in a playoff spot right now. So they seem to be preferring vets over rookies.

but in general I agree that they should at least let him play a lot in one league or the other. No point in him just sitting on taxi squad. At least let him play in one of the back to back games or something.

Hawks have been rotating players up and down the whole year, giving play time to about 6-8 players between the AHL and NHL. I suspect he’ll be back up in a few weeks.

IMO that's not the best way to develop a prospect. If he's ready, play him. If he's not ready, keep him in the AHL. Moving up and down seems to get a lot of prospects in trouble.

They have too many rookies ready to play.

Time in Rockford isn't good for anyone. That team is a mess.

Rockford is not good but being down in the AHL will help him slow the game down, which is 100% something he needs right now. So your comment that “Rockford isn’t good for anyone” is just misguided and wrong.

I am on the fence about Beaudin, I like his offensive instincts, but for his game to translate to the next level he will need to improve his skating, ok/good skating is not enough for a smallish defenseman in today's NHL, creating offense becomes very difficult otherwise since you can't create that time and space for yourself to begin with. So not sure if his game will truly translate to the next level.
So I'm assuming he didn't improve his skating?

Never understood this pick when they alrleady drafted Boqvist that night...
When more highly regarded guys like Alexeyeev, Romanov and McIsaac were there.
How many 5'10 defensemen did Chicago want?
They drafted Jokiharju and Mitchell with their first two picks of the previous draft.
