Ok i understand…hopefully Gulyayev will come over to play NHL and not stay in Russia until he is 24 or something like that :D

Scored a goal in the first season game, friendly vs the KHL roster. Doesn't mean a lot but still...

He’s a stud. Fantastic playmaker. He may have outgrown the MHL already and play for Omskie Krylia like Miroshnichenko last season. I think if he stays in the MHL, he’ll be a top scoring defenseman. Was a lot of fun to watch.

Makar made NHL as a full time roster player at age 21. So you think Gulyayev is going to be NHL ready at younger age than Makar.

That's quite the leap from saying that a long-term KHL contract will likely impact his draft stock while the uncertainty of the Ukraine war hovers over prospects.

Look at where Yurov got picked compared to where he was projected to go and IIRC, his KHL contract isn't even as long.

Political turmoil is a whole nother topic than his contract though.

There's some overlap - how easy will it be to get into Russia after you've drafted him to see him play, how much control will you have over the development there, etc.

A shorter term KHL contract likely is more appealing to teams investing a high draft pick cause they are more likely to get them into a more controllable developmental environment than a KHL that is even less likely to want to cooperate with Western entitites.

He is under contract for up to 20 years. Very rare are the defenders who play in the NHL before the age of 20. Even guys like Power, L.Hughes, Sanderson don't.

3 years gives him plenty of time to win in the KHL, which remains the league closest to the NHL in terms of level of play.

Followed up on his very, very good MHL game with an equally impressive VHL debut. So much speed, skill, and intelligence. Easily the most fun draft eligible to watch in Russia right now.
