You don't watch Habs games so how would you even know? And if you did, you clearly don't know much about hockey then.

You used 1 made up advanced statistic (xGA) that is meant to be a team stat in a vacuum to tell us he's bad defensively. At least the commentators have watched the games, all you do is post a number that you don't even understand.

There's really no comparable to him in the league right now in terms of style of play.... He's incredibly cheeky , borderline disrespectful with how he attacks and baits guys with the puck on his stick. , its hilarious how nobody even pressures him anymore. Rookie 20 year old 5"7 dman going through guys like it's a beer league game, Its a little bit uncanny.

idk about you but hes looked so damn good defensively over the past 25 or so games other than one or two games here and there. If anything its Matheson, his D partner, who has struggled a lot more on his offside.

Why don't these two stats match the eye test? Not shitting on you but the way you and others are using this stat to justify Hutson as horrible defensively just does not match my eyeballs

I know other Habs fans agree with me but curious what other fans see when they watch him play? On a regular basis I mean not just on a bad night like vs the leafs or a really good night vs the Canucks.

Alot of People advocating for these advanced stats are not talking at all about his game. Just throwing numbers around as if that automatically means he is a liability out there. And I just dont see it.

Is he amazing defensively? No....but he definitely doesn't look bad to me. He's got a different style, he defends very aggressively. Way better than I thought he would be at things like using his stick, reading the play, winning puck battles in tight space and fighting for positioning.

Id say he's DECENT defensively at this point. Which is far better than what I was expecting so I'll take it.....but saying he's horrible? And using a few advanced stats as the only argument? Nahhhh I don't buy it sorry.

I just don't know how you can throw out one single stat, which is inferred, calculated and assumed in some capacity, and plop it out there as if its some sort of proof about a defining characteristic of a player.

If he truly was historically awful defensively, as these advanced stats suggest, playing beside Mike Matheson who is not known for his defensive prowess either, how the heck is Montreal winning hockey games at the rate they are with these 2 non playing defense jokers playing over 20 minutes a game?

These stats aren't suggesting hes poor defensively. Or below average. Theyre suggesting that he's the worst defensive defenseman for his age in 20 years.

If you don't believe that then your stat is useless. If you do believe that then your opinion is worthless.
