Would have likely gone 1st overall in the QMJHL had he commited to report.

High end offensive defenseman. Small in stature but very explosive. Speed , smarts and puckhandling are his strengths.

He'll be a first round NHL pick.

Wish he'd go the major junior route as Moncton own his rights :naughty:

I also want him to go that route. Manly because it easier to compare him to others in the CHL.

So...this kid isn't committed yet? Any idea where he'll end up? Is Moncton a realistic option?

Krys has 15 points (2g, 13a) and is a +18 in 12 games since moving up to the NTDP U18 team. He's playing with a better team now but he's the best d-man on the U18 team.

No commitment yet but I wouldn't bet against his dad's alma mater in BU.

Hope he keeps the production up. His defensive play is not stellar.

Will Chad Krys play in Moncton next season?

Defenseman Chad Krys is one of the top prospect eligible for next year's draft and he has not commited to a USA college as of yet. He was drafted by Moncton last year in the QMJHL draft.

Moncton is a great spot for any prospect, it's a great organisation and a big city with a solid school program. The team will also be good next season, especially if Krys is added, they would only need to find a #1 goalie and would be set to compete for the cup.

Moncton has a history of attracting big-name players, most notably the latest ones being Conor Garland two years ago as well as blue chippers from Russia Barbashev and Tkachyev. The idea of playing on the PP with follow american and QMJHL MVP Garland has to be enticing for Krys.

What do you guys think?

I'd like to see him in Moncton but I think he will almost 100% be back with the U18 team for next season. The season after that is when I think there is a better chance to see him in Moncton. Having not made a college commitment yet is kind of surprising, he likely has a spot at just about any school he wants though so no problem waiting.

Moncton's approach now to draft heavily from the US will hopefully start to pay off. They are by far the most successful team in the Q at luring Americans with college commitments to their team. Let's hope a few more of the kids from the last draft and the next draft show up too.

IMO, Wouldn't be a very wise choice at all.

Current coach has helped develop 6 draft picks from 1994's , 3 1sts, 1 2nd, 1 3rd and 1 5th .. Trouba - Jets, Jones - Preds, Carrick - Caps, Seiloff - Abb. Flames, Skeij - Rangers ( signed after NCAA season ) and Gryzlek - Bruins ( going back to BU for Sr year )

1996's .. 3 2nds and 2 3rds

Pretty good track record in recent years

No way he goes to Moncton. He will be going NCAA route, rumour is the contenders are BU (both parents are alumni and BC...

Chad Krys US U18 team(2016 draft)

I was looking at top ranked players for the 2016 draft and was surprised to see he was not there, his stats look great, i was wondering if anyone knows how good he can become, and where he will play next year, the chl or ncaa

You were looking at the top ranked players where? A really old list? He is up there. He probably has a thread already, too.

IMO the reason he's not higher is that he's a serious work in progress defensively. Looked a little lost in his own zone at the U18, which was fair since he was an underager, but still.

oh yeah that explains the ranking, because he has put up some incredible stats i though he would be getting more hype than hanifin considering the numbers he was puttting up in 22 games for the us program, but i saw he is a bit small at 5 11, and is not as good defensively as hanifin, who is a comparison for him shattinkirnk, barrie, karlsson, is he going to be this type of dman.

Doesn't have ideal size, but everything else about him screams "elite defenseman".

In terms of pure talent, he might have even more than Chychrun. Such a smart player who produces offense in any situation, without taking away from his own defensive game.

US defensemen are getting pretty ridiculous, I know Canadians joke about being able to field 3 Olympic squads that could contend for gold, but how about the US? They could conceivably field 2 Olympic caliber squads at the rate they're churning out elite young talent.

After the last Olympics and World juniors, your cooment about the USA fielding 2 Olympic teams is questionable.

More like the current coach did not de-rail the development of the kids mentioned above. Gotta wonder how many other he has de-railed. Not a good coach in my opinion.
