A bad China team, at a very bad level of hockey.

A guy legitimately talented enough to be drafted should be able to skate around an entire team at that level.

Here he is at USHS level. Literally went around a whole team. Obviously some talent there.

I know that he probably never makes the NHL, but there will be third round picks from this draft who won't make it.

If this guy was called Andy Smith nobody would be whining.

USHS is only actually a good level in certain areas

They would, because he clearly isn't very good, but it would be put down to poor scouting rather than an obvious marketing stunt

20% or so of 2nd rounders make the NHL and people are complaining about a 7th round pick being thrown away?

Omg such poor asset management, could've been used as a pick to sweeten a deal for Matthews next year!!!!!1!

I'm afraid it's worse than that... it was a 6th rounder!!!

I have a hard time believing this kid was actually the best on the board when players like Noel and Soy are still there but its a good story to hear regardless.

Genius business move by Charles Wang.

I don't think the Islanders could care less if this kid dosn't even sniff the AHL, but The Islanders just gained at least 2.5 million new fans.

This seemed to me more of a business move then drafting a prospect.

Islanders may of just become China's new favorite NHL team.

Dat Islander merchandising gear doe $$$$$$$$$$

It is also about being able to stash him in prep school for a year then college hockey. This way you can space out when you have to make decisions on players. Even if he doesn't pan out you get a foot in the door in a large market

Very nice to see player drafted from china.. Maybe we can get a player from India too? :handclap:

My friend Patel very gord player.. Scores much goals and great skating for the Bangladore hockeyclub i play goalie. Patel Kumar excellent player scouting report:

Shooting: 4/5
Defence: 3/5
Skating: 5/5
Physical: 2/5

Weakness: Small man. 165 cm but very quick like i said.. I see alot of Martin St-louis potential in him.. Superstar here in India, Patel Kumar. - Rakesh

How Patel got passed over this year I'll never understand.

One of these young men could yours instead of this ****

Screw You.

NONE of those guys got picked by any other teams. At least with this pick it may spur growth and development of hockey in China. With the NHL looking at expansion, the league definitely could use more skilled players. Enough of the big behemoth pluggers cough John Scott cough who can only fight.

This is a great pick from a larger perspective.

Lawrenceville (NJ) not Lawrence Academy (MA)

edit: going to do a post-grad year at Phillips Andover (MA) next year. Where Chris Kreider played

Even if he doesn't make the NHL. I'm sure Charles Wang will give him a job in the front office.
