Ruutu had no chance on that play. Ward was leaning on him at a 45 degree angle so that literally anything Ruutu did was going to cause Ward to fall over. Absolutely nothing he could do in that situation.

Except he very clearly used a freehand. Regardless of how easy it was to knock Ward over, you can't give the referee the chance to make that call by making it obvious like that.

I'll take our powerplay-capable guys right along with theirs. We don't quite have an Ovy, but we've got two Staals, a Skinner, a Semin, and recently a Murphy. We've got the talent.

Either way, that was more just something to say in the heat of the moment. I'm aware that our powerplay woes go far deeper than the head coach.
