Even as an outside observer, Yak has looked terrible and completely dis-interested in the pre-season. I would expect that any deal for him wouldn't net Edmonton much because the team taking Yak is taking all the risk.

He's either trying to play himself off of the team . . .given up completely . . . or wants Edmonton to lend him to a KHL team.

But I used to think that Yak was a guy with a poor head for the game but a decent work ethic. now he's a guy with a poor head for the game and a non-existant work ethic.

Ottawa isn't going to give up an asset like Lazar for him.

I call BS on that.. Yak is playing hard and it shows. He just isnt producing. poor head sure but poor work ethic is baseless assumption.

Aren't the oilers potentially waiving yakupov... So why are we offering lazar

Why do you think the Oilers are going to wave him? Is there a link to this coming from the Oilers? Maybe there is one but I have to believe they could get at least a 4th round pick or a project prospect for him

Hasn't Yak only played in 1 game so far? And he was pretty okay in that game. I think somebody ^^^ believes that it is story time.

apparently a few sources close to the oilers have stated that they would not be surprised at all if yakupov is waived, its also why the 'would anyone claim yakupov on waivers' thread was started. I dont know how credible those rumors are but if he is anywhere close to being placed on waivers then their is no point offering anyone with any potential for him unless ottawa really wants him. As of right now ottawa doesnt really have a consistent spot for him so im not offering anyone with potential. Late draft pick or boro sure. Oilers fans will laugh at that offer and rightfully so but if the reports hold any merit then management has really soured on yakupov (more so then expected)

As a Sens fan I'd do this. A breath of fresh air for Yakupov and that mixed in with the perfect match with Boucher's system would be great.

Lazar is nothing special, he has no offensive talent to speak of and players of his skill level are dime a dozen. At least Yakupov has some talent besides said intangibles from Lazar and Pageau can dish the puck.

We have guys that could EASILY do what Lazar does ... Even a guy like Max McCormick could come in and play the same role without a problem. We also have Nick Paul, Dzingel, Colin White coming up that are better or at the very least equal to Lazar in terms of what they bring on the ice. We don't have players with Yakupovs skillset in Ottawa, and Lazar is expandable, I don't see how we don't consider this and this makes us more dangerous offensively while Pageau and Smith can handle the defensive responsibilities without a problem( and Yakupov is also a hard working player..)
