He’s the ideal.I’d rather be targeting Schenn but if the price is not too much it’s not a bad backup plan.
Kind of funny but mostly kind of early for such a claim. Get more picks, package picks, move up , make trades for future 1sts, how funny does that sound?Would be kind of funny if Philly gets more 2025 picks. Loading up on one of the weaker drafts from the last few years
Yeah most likely costs much higher. I’m not really sure I’d be willing to give up what it takes to get Schenn. But we kind of need to go all in at this point. But anything we add as a 3rd line centre would be an upgrade with what we have there. Also would help to have 2nd centre depth in case Mathew’s or JT get hurt. He’s the ideal.
Cost is much higher then Laughton in my opinion.
Hard deal to make Cap wise. St Louis would need to take on a couple guys like Jarnkrok and Kampf.
These selling teams also have to understand there is not a lot of first round picks that contenders can move. Lots have already moved them.
I could see Danford involved if it’s with the Leafs
not sure how schenn makes any sense for the leafs compared to laughton, schenn is 33 and is basically a 45 point player now signed for another 3 years at 6.5M. Laughton only has one more year left on his deal at 3M.
I see him as a bottom 6 guy, comparable to Suter. Not a need, tho I do really like the playerCanucks are thin at C at the top of lineup now, but I don't know if Laughton brings enough offense to be a fixture in the top-6. I like him though.
Minten projects as a Laughton type, but he's not there yet. Flyers say Minten or bustI honestly think it’s the most reasonably add for Toronto. The price should be a 2nd + any prospect not named Minten, Cowan or Danford.
He’s got another year which works well with Minten’s development within the club.
Acquiring Laughton really allows the Leafs to play 3 lines that score and are not defensive disasters.
Knies Matthews Domi
Patches JT Marner
McMann Laughton Nylander
I'd rather just keep mintenMinten projects as a Laughton type, but he's not there yet. Flyers say Minten or bust
He is absolutely worth a 1st round pick to a contender, especially with the context that the back half of the first round this year is apparently weaker than normal.
He has 2 years left at a great cap hit. Whoever acquires him gets him for two playoff runs, and they don't have to give up term beyond next year. If a team like Toronto goes for an equivalent player in free agency, the AAV is higher and they probably need to give up 3-4 years of term.
The two firsts rumour from 2023 was a bit much, but a late 1st in a weak draft for a veteran 3rd liner with a low cap hit and ideal term, whose style of play should translate to playoff hockey, yes.
Let's hope for Briere's sake he can get the multiple 1sts that Laughton was reportedly worth a couple years ago
I mean, if he's going to be bottom 6 scoring depth that doesn't cost a 1st, it's not awful. Gus and Lambert aren't playoff caliber, Chevy understandably would want a fully firing roster - even with injuries. If Laughton is the ONLY forward pickup we make, I'd be very concerned about the gap that would continue to exist at 2C.Laughton makes zero sense for WPG…but Chevys gonna Chevy
The ask is absolutely a first. Is that the receipt? We shall see.Any idea what the ask is? First seems like it may be a bit rich
I don't care how weak the draft is. Having 7 picks in the top 50 is great value.Would be kind of funny if Philly gets more 2025 picks. Loading up on one of the weaker drafts from the last few years
Laughton won't get retained. The moment I saw the thread I thought leafs. With retention, I can see the leafs getting him easily
