Confirmed with Link: Laughton 50 Retention A 4th and A 6th to the Leafs for A Conditional 2027 1st Round Pick and Nikita Grebenkin

That we don't know yet..

Tough physical playoff series, we might see a big Hit or Fight or momentum changing event with elbows up, not willing to lie down but fight, fight fight.,

When a team like Florida tossed out Tkachuk, Bennett, or Marchand then Laughton is the kind and type of player you want on your team willing to go to battle.

His biggest return is going come playoff time with a key SH goal goal or big blocked shot or earth shattering momentum changing hit. I think the best is yet to come. IMO
Well he’s been in the league what 10 years? We shouldn’t expect anything different we know what we got. If anything expect a decline, he isn’t getting younger

1st rounder and a very good prospect!

Some serious Tom foolery

Let's not get carried away here. A very good prospect? A guy who is likely to top out a 4th liner in the NHL is a VERY GOOD Prospect?

We are also over valuing the first round pick. It will be a 20's first round pick, a player unlikely to be a contributor for years.

I sure as hell hope we haven't seen his best in a Leaf's uniform yet. LOL

It's a bad stretch for this team, and he's new figuring stuff out, and the team is learning where to play him. He'll be better..

We haven't found the right fit nor the right line-mates yet and chemistry takes time.

Who knows next year we might have Knies --- Laughton --- Nylander 2nd line.

He hasn't had a lot of opportunity yet to find his footing and his place on the Leafs yet.

Laughton is probably best as a 4th liner, but would be a very good 4th liner. If he's playing on your second line, you don't have a very good team, and he's going to struggle. He can play on a third line, but he would need some better players, including better defensive players than him.

Jarnkrok is an example of a decent defensive player, who would work with him, but between them, you wouldn't like the offense in all probability.

Looks like he is trying too hard to fit in and things are not going well,

Give him a chance and some time and lets see where this ends up.

I'm not counting him out, because he is the kind of Elbows Up kind on player willing to engage and hold the line.

Just not a fan. Giving up a first and a prospect for a third liner just seems like a dumb move to me. Don't get me wrong, I hope he improves, but I have little faith.

Good grief.

If that term was being used prior to Justine's roll out, ok...Single most destructive Canadian in the history of the country shouldn't be parroted in any context just because the theatre of politics seems aligned with the common Canadian man. Opportunist slag that he is.

JT has the combined hockey character of Alex Semin meets Matt Cooke. There. There's my hockey reference to aforementioned political meme du jour.

Laughton looks like he's from the future, as in his own, as a 65-year-old beer league Glory Days "ringer".

It really is cringe. Canadians are so pretentious lol A nation of 41 million people and all they have is the bread and circus known as hockey.

For me timing is everything.

The Leafs have 1 circus time shoot-out win in their past 6 games

Not sure its the best time to single out the newest Leaf Laughton, and evaluate his play in an environment surrounded by failure. He would be the player who would almost get a pass during this time, where the focus should be on all this failing teammates around him.

If trying to fit in with his new team, I'd say he is doing a good job not making any of them look worse. :naughty:

He directly cost us 4 points - 2 against the Panthers and 2 against Avs. His mistakes were so egregious I would investigate him for putting money on the other team.

Hard to imagine a 2nd line C who has cracked 40 pts once in his career as a good thing.

You want to be dropping him down the lineup, not elevating him

Domi back at centre. Laughton centring the fourth line.

What a disgusting trade. A 1st and Grebenkin for a 4C. Fantastic work Brad.

People need to calm down... guy being moved for the 1st time of his carreer to his hometown team... Probably trying to impress and doing too much but at the same time taking bad decision.

bring back on 4th line just to come back to basic and just playing with attitude to bring him back his game is not necessairly a bad thing.

I already made a comparable to coleman when he had been traded to Tampa, the game he played in before covid19 end regular seqson wqs not looking good at all... Pretty similar to laughton but when it what's the time, he raised up and shined.

Don't overreacting to some couple of game

At the end of the day, we got a useless fourth liner who will contribute absolutely nothing.

Leave it to the usual Leaf Bridge Jumpers to bemoan the loss of a no-talent scrub like Grebenken and mid to late 20’s draft pick who’s not even going to sniff the NHL for at least four years.

Having a chippy, defensively reliable, competent penalty killer who can be a good #3C or a great #4C at the cost of $1.5M is WAY more valuable than a career minor leaguer and the second coming of Fred Gauthier or Ty Biggs.

The pick itself isn’t useful but we could have gotten a better return on a first and Greb. I for one don’t believe his ceiling caps at a 4th liner but if it does, he’d be the young 4th line energy guy we’ve lacked for years.

Who is this defensively responsible forward you speak of?
