  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

So this is the 2nd horrible decision Treliving has made with the Leafs (Klingberg the first one). I mean, I would like to know what’s going on in the war room. Do we have bad pro scouts? Is Treliving not listening them?

Laughton is HORRIBLE, how can you be so off with your judgement? Why is the reality so different from what he expected?

Scratch the guy, he’s gonna be a huge liability in the playoffs.

This guy isn't even worth Grebenkin alone. He's like the "center" version of Connor DeWar.

Trading our 2027 first for him is just madness but not surprising that we were the team dumb enough to do it. Delays the start of a true rebuild to at least 2028.

A first round choice PLUS Greybonkin....incredible...couldn't make a difference with Flyers, but can make a difference with the Leafs. The difference is we lose Marner for nothing, we lose Greybonkin who likely would played for us next year, , we lose a first that could be important contributor and future star and we got a hometown boy who can play in golf tournaments in May.

I watched an interview with a former teammate of Laughton's, I think it was Aucoin, he said that when he watched Laughton in practice, his skills were off the chart, you'd think he was a 1st liner. While that makes me think eventually we will see this trade become a steal of a deal, he's not really impressing me all that much yet.

Joke of a trade. Fringe 4th line player that will contribute absolutely nothing.

Liability in the playoffs?

He will put an end to this entitled non competitive core once and for all. Maybe it will be a good thing.

Build around Willy. Try and entice McDavid or something.

He hasn’t found his way here yet, dude wore an A and has played 600 plus games at a respectable level in this league. Now he’s a scrub who shouldn’t be in the lineup, never change fickle nation. Let the guy adjust, then judge.

Not gonna write the guy off, but Laughton is a dime a dozen player you can find every free agency. Even at his peak he's never worth a 1st rounder, that was an insane price to pay.

C’mon man. 600 games in the league and he’s been clearly the worst player on the ice in every game. That Jones play is his time on the leafs in a nutshell so far

I suggested Jankowski for a late pick before Tulsky picked him up for...a late pick. We didn't need to overpay to supplement at position. We needed smaller moves from the bottom up. And our asset ceiling capped at a 2nd and various prospects.

Makes you wonder if there's a memo above Shanahan that says X-outlay for X-type of asset for X-level of media utility has to be acted upon for trade approval. Makes you wonder why we couldn't just quietly support the group with modest assets.

I understand the Carlo payment to an extent. I don't understand Laughton's in the least and wish there was a Leafs Blueprint recording of the deliberation to justify the expense.
Lots of over payment on players. By alot of teams

Looks like another wasted acquisition by Tre it seems.

Fans look at other players like the grass is always greener on the other side and then once they step on the ice wearing the Leaf they realize is just another JAG who can’t skate or score and isn’t great defensively.

Minten would of been just as good and probably better defensively.

In Tre we trust is still the moto?

With the Cap room and assets he had and he filled the team with old slower players who best offensive traits is bouncing pucks off the boards.

Domi has one good game and all is forgotten ….typical….spent most of the year doing nothing. These glorified wrestling match of guys hurting their knuckles on plastic shield and armour is laughable.

Issues in past playoffs performances was lack of scoring and goalies letting in bad goals

We are so lucky we have had very good goaltending most of the year because we still can’t generate goals.

instead of watching a fast exciting team ….we are watching paint dry now with Berube system in place.

Leafs are like a NBA game. Just turn it on with minutes left in game.
Leafs play not to lose instead of trying to win…that’s Berube style IMHO

It’s hilarious that Tre gets a pass because supposedly Dubas handcuffed him.

This hasn’t been a good job of coaching by Berube.

We should give it more time, but it’s possible we botched this one though.

The Leafs signed David Clarkson to a 7-year deal and Jeff Finger to a 4-year deal. Those were bad deals.

We might have thrown away a late 1st, but the reality is he won’t cost us on the cap, making only 1.5 for 2 years. We can make that work on the 4th line next year.

Treliving has hit on Stolarz, Tanev, OEL, Lorentz, the McCabe re-signing, and the Woll re-signing. It’s difficult to say what we have with Carlo, but if he’s a #4, he will be worth it.

We were probably due for a miss. Laughton is the one miss so far, and it’s still early, and it’s not too bad. There are no long-term repercussions at least.

Sounds like Berube screwed the Leafs in this deal.

Of course Treliving brought Berube to Toronto.

Berube wouldn't play Minten, so dump him at the deadline and bring in Laughton, who isn't even a NHL player, apparently.

Or maybe half the Leafs team is sputtering and looking for injury excuses to mask their fragility.

At least marner is 8th. in points and Nylander is 2nd. in scoring.
(Goals are scored. Assists are earned/recorded).

Leafs 1st rounder this year likely ends up in the low 20s. We've been trending down. Who knows what that pick is in 2 years. My guess is late teens. Personally think it will be difficult for the Leafs to be a consistent top 10 team or better the next few years. We've already missed out on Jarvis by trading away a 1st, lets hope history doesnt repeat itself.

Brady Martin would have been a great pick this year if we had a pick
Next year is a deep draft apparently

They should have never traded that 1st for Laughton. Also they misjudged how good they were and clearly not on a contending tier.

Once again the Leafs contributing significantly to rival team rebuilds. They never f***ing learn. His name is Scott Rotten until further notice.

Leafs need a professional GM with a small business mindset that can ignore the outside noise and build a team properly through the draft. Also, the appropriate checks and balances need to be set up to make sure the organization is developing the players appropriately. This isn't rocket science. The Leafs haven't been able to do this since the original expansion era.

I am personally sick and tired of watching our former prospects become legends on other teams.

Both deadline acquisitions had better games than 95% of the roster last night. I guess people want to blame Tre for our team faltering.. but maybe take a look at the bottom of the impact chart
