If you don't think that US hockey has improved then you're blinded by bias and there's not much to discuss.

They've improved on paper, but they haven't improved whatsoever in terms of actual results and at the end of the day that's really all that matters. Moral victories of being better on paper ultimately means nothing if they still can't get the job done at the mens level. Please don't take it personally.

1996, 2010,2025 also could of went either way and were pretty evenly matched(I’m too young to remember 1991). 2002 I do agree Canada was the better team that game.

Yea the US has won 3 of the last 5 wjc including back to back. The next gen is looking strong. Hockey is growing rapidly in the US.

The WJC can be deceiving. If you follow u-20 prospects its pretty clear Canada is doing a better job in producing « elite » prospects. A lot can happen before these guys hit their primes but the current 96-01 age group is the American golden generation.

If the next U.S. generation is looking "strong", Canada's next generation is looking insane. The high end talent for Canada from 2000 on is off the charts.

We have average 15 first round picks in every draft since 2020 and 2025 could reach 20. 2026 won't be far behind 2025.

What we lack from 2016-2019, we make up for in the 2020's. We are truly cranking off a TON of talent. I would not underestimate what's coming.

What a single one off victory that was followed by a string of five straight Canadian victories was followed with an Olympic ot gold medal game win for Canada. The lack of predictive power point seems weaker than perhaps you originally anticipated….

In Canada's defense, this is one of the weakest teams we've ever put out. What's coming in 2030 will be scary good/deep. I just hope we can win in 2026 and 2028 - until we get there.

I mean let's be honest winning the American football league to the rest of the world is like some team down in new Zealand winning kiwi squash competition, if there's such a thing.

Our country has enough population and cities that we can have our own leagues confined to its own. It's a fairly unique situation, which is probably why a lot of others around the world don't get it.

They don't have the big dogs. And until they finally start getting those types of players they will always be ranked behind Canada.

Mcdavid and Mackinnon massively carried the offensive load this tourney. Canada had crosby before them. Had gretz and Lemieux before crosby etc.

USA still has yet to have that or those pinnacle players. I don't think q Hughes is that either. I could see him struggling in these kind of games just like his brother.

USA still has not had that dominate type of player in recent years while Canada has just had celebrini and bedard drafted with mckenna and Dupont coming up...
