If they go out in a whimper, what is the point in retaining both of them? I know it wasn’t what your intention of the message was but Tavares isn’t getting better and Marner is probably at his peak.

If they couldn’t win the past couple years, something drastic needs to change for them. I don’t have any faith in their management team to make the correct decisions though.

Yea would be killing the team but we already would continue sucking if were out early again

Bennett is a very good player but hes a ceiling finisher when a team is good and needs a leader/2C player who brings skill and size

Expecting him to replace Marner (in your scenerio) would just result in 55-60 pt 2C and God knows what at RW outside of Nylander

Ideally if Bennett wants to be a leaf

Marner at 11.5M x 8 showing he wants to win and not give a damn about being paid the highest he can

Tavares at 4M x 3 showing he wants to win and at this pt his AAV means little with 4M being a good deal thst he should live up to in ages 35-37 season

Bennett at 7M x 7. You get a stronger 2C to play while retaining the core guys (giving JT a lower role where he can focus on his strengths)

Knies + Bennett + Core 4 at those rates would be a very nice top 6

Id deal woll and extend Storalz this summer personally using Woll to get a good top4D (either picks to convey or a straight 1 for 1)

I'm gonna guess he stays in Florida but if the Leafs are interested in bringing him home i think the idea should be to play him with Marner right ? They looked like they complimented eachother well last night.......
