Edmonton poised to get knocked off by Buffalo (knock on wood)

Vancouver could still be knocked off tonight as well by Carolina

Looking ahead to Monday:

One of Colorado and Pittsburgh will be gone and the Sharks and Senators will both have to win to stick around

Colorado has Pittsburgh, Washington, Tampa, and Florida up next and all on the road, probably one of the roughest 4 game slates of anyone. They will not be last to lose.

The Avs start the season against the highest scoring team in the league last year, the Stanley Cup champions, the President's Trophy winner, the losing Eastern Conference Finalist, and the Southeast Division winner from last year.

If the Avs can go 3-2 over these five games, they should lead the NHL power rankings, just based on strength of schedule.

Probably St. Louis considering their upcoming schedule. The Sharks have looked great the first two games but they're in the middle of a lengthy road trip.

Two more hopefuls bite the dust, Ottawa in dire straits

edit: and it is done, 6 team teams left.

Panthers-Lightning

and

Blues-Canucks

will knock two more teams out at least.

Coyotes and Avalanche also play to defend their win streaks

Few enough teams now to easily check schedules.

Everyone has three games left this week, with two elimination games on Tuesday, another potential elimination game on Thursday, and one more potential elimination game on Saturday.

Tuesday 10/18/2016
STL @ VAN (Elimination)
FLA @ TBL (Elimination)
ARI @ OTT
COL @ WSH

Thursday 10/20/2016
COL @ TBL (Elimination?)
STL @ EDM
WSH @ FLA
ARI @ MTL
BUF @ VAN

Friday 10/21/2016
ARI @ NYI

Saturday 10/22/2016
COL @ FLA (Elimination?)
STL @ CGY
TBL @ OTT
VAN @ LAK

With the eliminations up this week, there will be a max of three teams left by end of Saturday, up to one each from three groups:
ARI
STL or VAN
FLA, TBL, or COL

St. Louis always has trouble with Canucks no matter how bad they are so that is one to watch ...
