Speculation: Larkin trade return

I don't think its that simple.
We're clearly in a bind and would be happy to get a quality center in return. Would they shake up their locker room for a moderate upgrade?

Others have pointed out that they would like to add Larkin so they could slide Schmaltz over to wing, but they are not as inclined to make a hockey trade as we are. Would be nice to see if we could make it work though. Maybe add one of our 20 "B" level prospects to get it done so we don't take a huge step back
Just get Peterka, get a top prospect and get a 1st, flip the 1st + for a solid C that can replace 80% of what Larkin did. Peterka would severely upgrade our top 6 winger spots. EP40 would be the C I would go for as he has the potential to be a home run pickup

Awesome...a lousy nonplayoff team

Our nonplayoff team WITH Larkin needed
- a 65pt 2nd line center, ie Barzal or EP
- a 60pt 1st line LT winger ie ?
- x2 new bottom 6 physical competitive forwards who also contribute offence ie 35-40pts
- significant improvement from Kasper ie 50-55pts
- a consistently top end Gibson to cover up our lack of overall talent ie top 15 in save % and gaa

And that would be to just maybe try to compete with Ottawa and Boston for a playoff spot(Montreal, Buffalo, Tampa and Florida and all in)

It's been like...a week and I'm ready for all the moves to happen so I can start needlessly hyping up all the prospects and players we get and denegrating everyone we shipped off. Come onnnnnnnnn....this is taking foreverrrrrrrrrr

I don't see a trade coming until the Cup finals are complete and maybe even later. Why?

1) Vegas isn't going to engage in earnest or announce a trade until the series has concluded. Given they are one of the 3 teams on the list, it makes sense they would wait.

2) UFA signings may impact 2ndry needs and change players offered in any deal.

Watched or not, Desnoyers is pretty overrated in here.
I mean, for the record, I don’t think I’d be expecting him to be better than Larkin necessarily.

I think his upper range of outcomes is probably more like in that 70-75 point range.

The two guys he kind of reminds me of are the Calgary version of Sean Monahan, or more recently Matt Beniers.

I guess the hope would be that he can be a similar level player of Larkin, but one that is younger and fits our timeline better, and maybe one that is wired differently and can mesh with the guys we have better.

My recollection from his draft year is that Desnoyers brought pretty good off-ice leadership and intangibles/leadership. Whether that's impressive or eye-roll inducing for folks here, based on recent selections, I suppose is in the eye of the beholder.

In the next day or so? Probably not. By the draft? I think there’s a pretty good chance. Read the Lebrun article. Yzermans in constant communication with Larkin’s agent and it sure sounds like all sides want it done.

I don't think anything will happen in the next two weeks. We'll see.
