Rumor: Larkin requests trade

I just hope this pathetic excuse of a captain is open to a plethora of teams. Otherwise, Yzeman will just get peanuts.

Im holding my reservation, if they can strike gold here on an amazing return. Then, this is the best outcome for both parties.

If this piece of shit will only consider Vegas or some dumb shit im so done with this entire era of Wings.

Either way, Yzerman has just been wasting our time in the past 3 years. I hope they all get sacked.

Yeah, but I don't know how many times the guy should be able to fail before he isn't the one making these massive decisions.
I don't necessarily disagree. I just don't see the behind the scenes struggles changing that in any meaningful way. The Faulk trade is what it is, and I get arguments from both sides on it, whether or not Larkin was possibly on the outs since 2023.

That context, to me, is more of an indictment on Yzerman not doing something with the guy earlier. If you watch Larkin on a daily basis and you know you don't seem to get along with him, why would you not make the effort to get rid of him as soon as possible?

Yzerman won’t just accommodate Larkin’s request unless it helps the Red Wings. Yzerman is a hard ass that way

lol let's just hope he doesn't "Walman" Larkin out of town just to get rid of him. As much as I don't think that's likely, Yzerman has never seemed like the type of GM or person to not take this stuff personally.

Not to defend yzerman, because he created the problem, but I don't see how any GM can clean this mess up quickly.
I don't disagree. But nobody forced either Larkin or Yzerman to handle the last couple seasons the way they did.

Either load up and make your players happy before it reaches this point, or rebuild the rebuild before it reaches this point. But straddling the fence year after year does nobody any good.

Florida for a package around Lundell maybe. Columbus for Kent Johnson++.
San Jose has assets if they want a veteran center behind Celebrini.
Do we really want him in our division? Think we can do better than Lundell and pick #9 and Kent Jonson can probably be had for a 2nd +

San Jose ,ducks,Utah my front runners

I didn't have a definitive opinion at the time but the Larkin extension was the most pivotal decision this team made. In hindsight we should have shipped him out and leaned into the draft.

My only defense of Yzerman at that point was I would bet money he thought the team would be in the playoffs the season he signed Larkin and the window would start to open then. Obviously in hindsight (probably at the time) that would be a dumb opinion to have.

Was listening to mtl radio when I stepped out and still talking about Larkin 😂 guy said what I said , mentioned Yzerman would rather hold on to Larkin than make a bad trade. He plays hardball he can F off and cry in his moms basement

We need to have 3-5 teams involved

This is brutal, What an awful look for this franchise.

Even a home state and homegrown star, developed by this franchise won’t play for us.
And he has seen up close and what is under the hood in this organization.

Add that too the longest playoff drought and stretch of inept performance in the entire league.

Things are bleak

the problem is that "star" is a pretty big stretch. need players based on how good they are not which state they're from.
