Player Discussion Lane Hutson: Part 3 - Calder Edition

Starting to make an argument for Hart consideration. A reach yes but that’s how much of an impact he has provided.

“Most valuable to your team”. Habs don’t make the playoffs without Hutson this year. You can say the same for Suzuki
You can probably say the same for a half dozen players in the league.

Odd that every main board Hutson thread is closed because there’s a Calder thread yet Celebrini gets a thread for scoring a hat trick

I can't see the Calder thread anymore. They don't like getting owned with facts. There's a definite bias against Habs fans. Crazy the number of trolls early on in the previous thread, yet those posts remained.

Tbf we have a large volume and when things go well, we can be overwhelmingly loud on the main boards. Probably annoys the other fan bases

There was a legion of trolls from other teams in the first few months of the season. Every second post was either "hUtSOn is bAD dEFensIVeLY" or "lEAdiNg HeAdFAkeS pEr 60" They never got flushed out. Blatant double standard.

Did you get banned from that calder thread?

I didn't get a message, but all I see now when I click on the thread is this:

And it happened late last night right after a ton of posts got deleted. I knew they got deleted because the time stamp on the main page and the last user posting was changed from 10 minutes ago to 25 minutes ago.

I didn't bother login off to check the thread to see which posts were deleted.

I watched the Montreal Boston game last week at a pub in Boston with almost all die hard Boston fans. They were not too happy how their team is doing. I was hyping Hutson and of course he doesn't get a point but the guys I was with did really say that he is a special player and are really impressed with his play and how a rookie can be so good right away is something else. It was unanimous that he should get the Calder and that says something although there was one of your typical smart asses bringing up stats just to cause bickering. He was saying that Hutsons season is no doubt impressive and among the all-time leaders, those that are ahead of him did it in an era when they played fewer games and had no overtime. I haven't checked the list but I guess that could be accurate, still calling it sour grapes though.

Next time, tell that guy Hutson has only 3 points in OT and teams were scoring a lot more back then, like one more goal per game per team, giving Hutson a much bigger point share.

The all time leader is Larry Murphy who played 80 games. Of the 5 guys ahead, 3 including Murphy played 80 games, one played 77. The only guy ahead who has played significantly less games is Leetch at 68 games. But what's really telling is that 4 of the 5 guys ahead of him did in during the high scoring 80s, the only guy who didn't was Bourque whose rookie year was 79-80.

I like Hutson and think he's a good player but LMurphy is a Hall Of Famer and he was 18 when he set that Rookie mark Hutson is 21

Gtfo troll. Murphy was 20 when he set the record. He turned 20 in March 1981 and his rookie season was 80-81. Hutson turned 21 in February.

Teams scored one more goal per game back then. The Kings scored 337 goals in 80 games that season whereas the Habs are at 236 goals after 78 games.

Dionne had 135 pts, Taylor 112 pts and Simmer had 105 points and Murphy was 4th in points on his team with 76 pts. Comparatively, Hutson is 3rd on his team with 64 pts, behind Suzuki with 86 pts and Caufield with 67 pts.

Either you're really weak at verifying stats beforehand, or you're dishonest and just say BS to troll.

Hutson's point share is 27.1% which is an all-time record for a Habs dman. Murphy's point share was 22.5%.

Hey guys I just want to be fair and reasonable and I love the Habs and Hutson, but Hutson is older than everyone in front of him was, also getting points for defensemen was harder and they were all better defensively, taller and cooler and Hutson f***ing sucks, can't skate backwards, looks stupid and I hate the Canadiens. Hope we get to have great discussions y'all.

I don't really care about the assist "record." Murphy still massively outscored him, even if he ties or surpasses. Will be cool if he gets it, but......

What I want is sole possession of the Montreal record. 4 games, 1 point? You've got this, Lane!
